omega plasma launcher... help please.

osirisraaosirisraa Member Posts: 13 Arc User
the wiki say that it has 5 charges and can fire one torpedo a second until the charges are gone and regains a charge 1 per every 6 seconds.

For some reason I can't figure out how to use this weapons charges. I push fire all weapons and it looks like some times it will fire 2 torpedos but still the charges stay at 5. It looks like some players use high yield 3 with this weapon and fire 6 plama energy bolts in a stright line less then a second after each other.

When I use it I get one bolt, and 4 with a spread and a normal torpedo rate of fire with cool down.

Will some please explain how to properly use the weapon, how to combine it with high yeild to get the most bolts possible and how to use up all the charges to get the best DPS normally, with Torp spread, and with high yield ... thank you

omega launcher is bugged and is currently not consuming any charges. this, and many other bugs can be found in the tribble bug reports some month-2months+ ago. Please contact your local dev for more silence.

    lol

I still see players fire 5 bolts sub seconds in a straight line one after each other. If its bugged then how do they do that?

Are you confusing it with the hyper plasma torp? It fires 5 torps in a slow moving row. They aare also targetible.

The Hyper-Plasma launcher only launches 3 torpedoes per shot, although with a purple quality Projectile Weapons duty officer you can often fire off chains of torpedoes such that it looks like you fired 6 or more. I've had 3 procs in a row resulting in 12 torpedoes in space all after a single target before. As stated in the post above mine, all projectiles launched by the Hyper-Plasma launcher will resemble high-yield plasma torpedoes, regardless of whether High Yield was used or not.

It looks like I'm confusing the Omega with the hyper plasma. thx for clear that up for me. How come the hyper plasma launcher doesn't have a dps in the stats like normally torps?

No, you're not. The Hyper-plasma doesn't have charges, it just fires in three-shot volleys.

The Omega is currently bugged in that it's charges are never updated. However, it does appear to be using them. You'll see it on a 5-second cooldown once you've expended all your charges. The "always 5 charges" is a UI bug.

So is it a good plan to use this in conjunction with the Hyper Plasma Launcher? (Talking about the Omega Plasma Torp)

I decided to try out a dual plasma torp setup on my fleet level escort to see what it can do. I never knew there was a charge to the Omega Torp.

If I can just chime in on this thread, is the Omega launcher worth using? I'm currently using a high end VR quantum torpedo launcher. Does the damage output compare well?

Do Doff timer bonuses work at all on this or torpedo spread?

How badly is it bugged, Is it unusable?

I fire my torps manually, they are rarely on auto.

I can say that it IS using charges, whether or not the count is working.

Regular shots you can rattle off one right after the other. Generally, by the time you get to the 5th charge the first charge should be up again, so it's fairly easy to fire off 6 at a time.

This torpedo's High Yield is the Plasma Energy Bolt, so 1 giant torpedo, not multiple regular ones.

All DOFF mods SHOULD work on this torpedo, but the way the countdown works, you'll rarely notice it.

Incorrect. Cooldown reducing PWOs explicitly do not function with the Omega torp.
