Romulans and the Steamrunner Escort

While playing my Romulan Engineer up through the ranks, I claimed my Steamrunner package, as I do with all my toons. The Steamrunner Escort is a solid ship, and I enjoy flying it. I used the original for a few ranks, looking forward to hitting Vice Admiral so I could use the Retrofit model.

Reached VA, unpacked the Steamrunner Retrofit, and got a token in my inventory, and a message saying I didn't meet the requirements.

I'm assuming that this is a bug, as I was able to use the original Steamrunner just fine as a Federation Romulan. I can still go to requisitions and reclaim the original Steamrunner if I wish. But I would -like- to use the Retrofit Steamrunner as I planned.

Please fix the situation and make the Steamrunner Retrofit usable by Federation Romulans. And while we're on the subject, the Armitage Heavy Escort Carrier and Odyssey Cruisers as well. I paid for them, they say they can be used with any Federation character, I would like to use them on my Federation Romulan.

    Its not a bug. Romulans cannot use T5 ships of their ally faction. The first Steamrunner is T1 and so is usable while the second one is a T5+ ships and so is not usable as per the blog.
    Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

    If that's the case, they either need to re-think the decision, or change the descriptor text on these ships. Not everyone reads blogs.

    The descriptor text clearly states:

    "Unlocking the (Insert Ship Name) unlocks the ship for every Federation Vice Admiral character on an account."

    My character is a Vice Admiral. My character is allied with the Federation. Therefore, by the text, he should be able to access the ship once paid for. Which it was.

    I understand restricting access to standard Starfleet ship requisitions. After all, New Romulus isn't an official member of Starfleet, and the chances of that are unlikely.

    However, these ships were bought and paid for with real world currency, with text descriptions that indicate that as long as you're of the appropriate rank and side, you can use the ship.

    I'm the forgiving sort, who likes to try and come up with an amicable solution to problems. Someone who reads the description and THEN finds out the ship is unusable? They might not be so calm about it.

    I see no logical reason for Z-Store ships to be restricted once a side is chosen. Why in the world would you stop someone from spending money?

    Your Character is ALLIED with the Federation. He is not federation. He is a Romulan. Being Allied is not the same as being apart of. That would be like saying because the US and Japan are allies, all Japanese military members are part of the US Military. Not the case my friend!

    The Japanese didn't pay for the ships. If they did, that would change things.
    The OP did. Ships you have to pay real world money for shouldn't be restricted.

    While your point is correct, I will also point out that the US Military shares a great deal of combat technology with its allies. Especially when allies are paying through the nose for it. Much money has been made on the selling of military hardware and design.

    It would make more sense for the free ships to be restricted, not the ones we're opening our wallets for. This looking at it from the war profiteering (or spending encouragement) point of view.

    Romulan characters aren't allowed to use any of the their allies's tier 5 or higher ships. This was mentioned before the expansion.

    Hmm quote is broken, anyway it's fine Roms can't use t5 fed ships it clearly states those ships are for federation not romulan characters and not klingon characters. The faction ally dialogue as a Romulan when selecting an ally is all that needs to be changed so it clearly specifies you can only use lower level ships of the ally.

    If Roms could use tier 5 ships of allies you'd have to drop faction restrictions entirely or everyone would go fed rom.

    The descriptor text does not need to change, it clearly states all Federation characters can use it. Nothing about that is confusing as exactly which faction can use it.

    If any description needs to change, it would be the Tier 1-4 ships. They should say Romulans can use them when allied with the appropriate faction.
