Starfleet Odyssey

Who here has played my 40 (yes yes yes..40 ) part series? and before anyone points out yes I know of the grammer errors n stuff, there is a disclaimer in it about my dyslexia

I will admit I written the series at first to test my ability to create a foundry mission, it started as a trilogy, then a 12 part, then 24 part, then 30..then 40 part series (and would still be going strong if the limit was extended ) but I began to enjoy writing the characters and senarios, plus I wanted to put my own stamp on things. I wanted to do something meaningful with the Romulans, wanted to REALLY make the breen a force to be reckoned with (their mystery made this possible ) and wanted to explore every aspect of the STO universe, but also wanted to show more than just stereotypes (kind romulans, rogue starfleet, a bajoran married to a cardassian, mirror terran imperials who are not evil and so on )

Whats everyones thoughts on the storyline I have presented, fav characters, missions, story arcs and so on

look forward to hearing from you all

I'm having difficulty searching for your mission series.

Using a custom search with your name, all I see are two missions. SO|24 and 26.

Yeah, I was about a quarter the way through them before the switch over made them disappear. I'm hoping they come back soon, as I'm quite sucked into it.

If you like dariuskoronikov's series, I hope you will consider playing my upcoming series, Star Trek: Ragnarok (first episode publishing date t.b.a.)! It essentially picks up where his leaves off in episode 40 (takes place 30 years AFTER the events of episode 40 of his series!)! In fact, dariuskoronikov and I have made an agreement to allow me to use his characters and their ships in my series! More details to follow!

I just finished the 40th episode, and I have to give you a quite favorable review. Many aspects of the story arcs and their continuation, as well as character development were very strong and quite well written. I do have a few criticisms, and will detail these below. But I want to say WELL DONE and thank you for making an overall very enjoyable series!

My critiques do take note of your dyslexia, and therefore disregard all spelling and grammar issues. I would be happy to assist you with correcting these if you wish. Simply contact me.

One technical issue of note - episode 33 when you beam down to the first klingon base it seems there are some invisible wall issues. I was literally stuck and unable to progress/complete the episode. I have not rated that episode as a result. I can't think of any other technical issues to report aside from the usual Cryptic Foundry bugs.

Side-plots and back-story - Very well thought out, and I really enjoyed the "married to Teroth" option. My only criticism is that I think the "sappy romance" was a bit much for a Romulan. In keeping with ST themes Romulans aren't as logical as Vulcans, but also aren't as emotional as Humans either. Vollana was quite a hoot. I loved her character! Tho it seems the Tribble was kind of a Red Herring(?).

Sollana and her former lover/mirror counterpart lover were good story add-ons. The free-thinking Vorta were good as well. However, the Half Klingon sister of Teroth/Sollana seemed a bit ill-conceived and meaningless as a component of the series. I liked in general most of the recurring characters, including Aldon and Admiral/Ensign Rolts. The Sela clone also seemed a bit underdeveloped as well, and I could have done well without her.

The fallout between Teroth/Vollana and the Empire was a bit confusing. The Romulans in this world are heavily disorganized and desperate, and therefore don't really handle much formality anymore. I could have seen Teroth arrested and interrogated before being rescued and effectively deserting before seeing a court martial that results in exile. Just seemed a bit one off for me. Romulans are not known for letting people just leave.

The bad guys get a bit more criticism. Admiral Miller got a really strong start, but then I felt like he got more or less diminished out of the story. Granted I am sure you didn't want to overuse his character throughout the series, but usually a nemesis gets strong presences in parts they are involved in. I felt Millers second and third appearances were heavily weakened in comparison to his initial show. If anything his last appearance should have been epic in comparison. The number of Nemesis-like characters was fine, but they seemed a bit off in their introductions and subsequent removals. Tarok at the end got the strongest conflict, but one of the weakest introductions in the series.

As a matter of general continuity there would have been no way for Admiral Miller to have a Breen force catch Earth Spacedock off guard like that and force a simple surrender. At least not that easily.

The episodes concerning the mirror universe and the Breen cloning experiments were nice distractions from any major nemesis. And I do like most of the spins you put in the series plots. However from episodes 31 to 39 I felt like you were missing some creativity, because it seemed a lot like less of a story and more of a kill grind, especially on the ground.

That's the main summary of my critique. I may think of more if you are interested, but this should be sufficient for you for now :).

The bulk of my critiques above concern the last 20 episodes. The first 20 were very good and I have little complaints.

But overall it was a good series. Highly recommended! :D

I could use a 'list' for these missions, as I just started on the first two, and would like to make sure I can play through em all, and not miss any due to foundry listing limitations.

They SHOULD be clearly marked...When I go to find the episodes, I just type in "episode" in the search box! you can also go to the custom search and type in in the author box: dariuskoronikov! Hope this helps!

I managed to complete the entire series. Too bad it's capped at 40, as I'd love to see more from this series, someday. :)
