Possible Paramount movies content???

Before you jump to conclusions actually read this before making a stupid response that doesn't make sense when replying to this.

I am assuming there will be some paramount movie content in game soon in the future as in an interview with MMORPG.com executive Daniel Stahl was asked questions and in the dialogue there was possibly a hint towards some ongoing negotiations on Paramount movie content

"MMORPG.com: Are there plans to launch any content aimed at tying into the movie sequel this summer?
Daniel Stahl: We like to think that anything is possible in Star Trek Online. We continue to work with our licensor, CBS, to find ways in which we can collaborate with the Paramount movies."

    Why would it be shocking?

Cryptic doesn't hate money. Despite their season launch preparations evidence to the contrary.

I'd assume it is probably true as the link to the interview was found on their facebook page.

    Just...just no.

Not unless Paramount is giving up the rights to Star Trek so that the next movie culminates in Captain Braxton fixing all of the TRIBBLE that Spock and Nero started, thereby reverting the timeline and making STO the true timeline.

Otherwise, don't care to see JJ's stuff in this game. That's what Star Trek is for.

I'm kinda confused by the 'we can't use stuff from the movies' line that Cryptic keeps using. I'm assuming this is only the most recent movies since the rights got split or something? I know we never got to see the Enterprise-E in DS9 or voyager (a licencing issue?), although we did get Akira's and Steamrunners,so assuming it was to prevent confusion with the hero ship? At the same time though, we have the Enterprise-E, Valdores, Schmiters, Enterprise-A etc that are only from the movies in STO, as well as severalstoryline elements such as Hobus exploding and destroying Romulas, so not quite sure exactly how this licencing stuff is working when we get told 'no stuff from the movies'? Is the real reason that it's harder to negociate with Paramount as STO only has a direct licence with CBS, soit's more hassle? I do remember one of the early trailers for STO having the JJprise in it for example.

    Hello Suricatta,

for the most part the matter is pretty straight-forward.

We didn't see the Enterprise-E because the Sovereign class was supposed to be "rare" and reserved for the movies.
We did not see the Starship Voyager because she didn't return to the Alpha Quadrant until after the the end of DS9.:)
We did however see another Intrepid class in the DS9 episode "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges".
And the Bellerophon used all the sets from Voyager.

From what I can piece together from background info, the producers tried to keep the shows pretty much seperate because...and I'm not joking...they appearently thought the audience would not be smart enough to tell the diiference between Voyager and another ship of her class.

The line "we can't use stuff from the movie" is aimed at the last two movies while the first 10 movies are of course no problem.
And this is the part where is becomes a bit weird for some people.
Stuff like "Red Matter", the Vault or the Romulan tattoos did NOT for the first time appear in the JJ movie.
They appeared in the four "Countdown" comics which predated the movie.
As a result Cryptic can use them.
Since the comics are rarely known (while most people have seen the movie) they associate the stuff with the movie.
Which is understandable but nontheless just because the majority of people have seen it in the movie for the first time does not mean it must have come from there.;)

Why the JJ prise was in the early trailer...I don't know if there is an answer out there.
A cameo? Maybe it's so old they didn't know they couldn't use it?

Another thing to stop and think about is the fact that here and there we're already seeing various Paramount/JJ things added in. The Shrapnel Torpedo on the Tal Shiar Destroyer is the same torpedo used by Nero's ship the Narada and the design philosophy of the two Tal Shiar ships is taken directly from the Narada as well, being that the Narada was the original test bed for the Tal Shiar's reverse engineered Borg Nanoprobe technology.

    Also from the comics

    Hello,

Me and some of my Fleet friends have requested that you change the Gorn. What I mean by this is that you change the Current Gorns appearance to something different. The problem we have is that they look like miniature Godzilla's, and that really does feels as if the Gorn were supposed to be represented in the Star Trek Universe.

I think maybe you meant to start a new thread.
    ---
Would be cool if they could have more movie content, but the movies are a bit limited and I wonder what they could really fit in. A few costume designs might be added, but other than that... not much could be.
