It's horrible! We know Obisiek isn't that bad from other missions but yet, here we are, not knowing who he is and thinking he's a big bad guy. Was hoping it would have been re-written for Romulan characters. At least the first few episodes before we team up with him.
If you go into this playing your first character as a Romulan, you don't. Obisek makes a cameo in Nimbus where he buys the Syndicate's Thalaron Triggers, but that's it. He isn't part of the Republic until the Iconians drag Sela through the gate.
As a Romulan player, we also meet him during the Temporal Ambassador mission where we talk to his parallel universe counterpart. This counterpart expresses his desire to fight for his people.
I also found that there were options to proclaim oneself a free romulan during the vault dialogue with him. Thats as close as I got to referring to the Romulan Republic as a Klingon aligned character, while garnering his apology for having to kill me considering the circumstances and what I saw in the vault.
I thought it was handled pretty fairly. You can see where they have made textual changes throughout the FE (like Madran's dialogue) because of the horrendous amount of typos. Here is an example from Cutting the Cord (after beaming down)... "The They must have detected us..." ... /facepalm

My understanding is that the initial LoR content is a prequel of sorts to the content which has already been released. You do realize that, even though the game is three years old, the main story of STO is stuck on the debut year (I think it's 2409).
What I was mainly referring to was the colony of Remans that you helped save. They were Obisieks people. The Reman that you talked to in the space part of that mission made mention of it several times. I find it hard to believe that he didn't say "Oh hey Obi. The Tal Shiar, they tried to wipe out our colony. This guy, so-and-so from D'Tan's Republic, he came to our aid and warned us shortly before the attack. Not only that, he beamed down and helped organize the evacuation. Because of him we were able to get some of us off the planet." Or even the Reman BOff we get not popping up and saying "Obisiek! How the hell are you? We're not bad guys working for Sela, don't worry."
I thought the talk with Obisek on the Vault was handled fairly well as a Romulan-fed character. There was some extra dialogue and it was interesting. Its obvious that Obisek knows little about the Romulan republic and cares even less, but he respects their desire for freedom at least. I imagine its slightly different for Rom-KDFs. I haven't played any further than the vault though.
