No Access to Foundry

I currently cannot log into my Foundry character, and I cannot find my published foundry missions when I search for them in game.

Is this a known issue and is there an ETA to fix?

The Foundry is currently down for two main reasons: to be sure the recent update did not throw some element of it completely out-of-whack, and to republish current missions after applying the new updates. It may still be some time before editing is reopened; they want authors to have time to test their missions to check for any problems before the whole Foundry is up and running again.

    Ok, thanks for the information.

I didn't see this in the notes or on the main site or anything.

No they haven't seem to have officially advertised it at all. I wouldn't have know if it wasn't for everyone in the forums telling newbies like us that it happens after every season.

Now I can understand why, but the more you keep people in the loop about what is happening, the less negativity you're going to get about the issue.

I also wish they'd provide status on whether the republish of all missions has completed, as while one of my missions has successfully republished; the second (and conclusion to the full story - which I spent A LOT of time and work on); still has yet to re-appear on the mission list.

I also find it funny how Brandon continually likes to state the republishing process take "a few hours" - when from past experience, it's taken DAYS to fully complete. Also, given all the interaction he personally has with the Foundry, (with himself personally choosing the Spotlight missions, and running the Foundry Challenges, etc; you'd think he'd be a bit more 'in the know' as to how long the republishing process takes; AND we authors who put a lot of work into the Foundry could get updates as to how the process is proceeding/any delays or snags encountered, etc.

I realize the top priority is (and should be) to get the new expansion up and running, and all the major issues (of which there are still a few), resolved. That said, I wish they could take some time to give updates on the re-publish process occasionally; so we have some idea what/when to start looking into issues with missions that were published before, but failed to republish.

For a 'major feature' they like to tout; they sure don't seem to support/inform us Authors that create stuff in the Foundry all that much when a major update hits the Live server that requires their auto-republish script to run.

For something that takes a week or more, it wouldn't be hard to give an update every 25%. Unless it hasn't made 25% yet, hmm...

I don't see any of my missions for the kdf or feds up at all , nor have access to the foundry either. Though I'm guessing what everyone is saying is correct.

I imagine they upload the most popular ones first...

Does anyone know when it will all be up and running again?

Authors are the people that create the foundry missions, so how can authors have time to test them if they can't gain access to them in the first place?

Because an author can't fully test mission in the foundry in it's current version. The only way to fully test a mission is to publish it (hope that no one reviews/plays it) and come to a conclusion on what else needs to be done.

For some unknown reason enemies fall through the floor, patrols don't work right, and along with some other really annoying bugs. The foundry test play option just doesn't work right >.<

Patrols dont work right because the information that tells a npc how to path doesnt get baked into a mission until the publish phase. Its entirely possible that some of this is the reason why things fall through geometry as well, because the floors arent 'solid'

With that said it was working before (not the pathing mind you, that never worked in preview since the beginning) so maybe someone will actually get assigned to fix things...but I wonder sometimes if the Foundry in STO is more an afterthought than a feature they want used by the wider audience...I will be tickled blue (or green) to be proven wrong.

Actually... in the old versions... pathing in preview was basically "walk forward until you bump into something then stand there like an idiot". They simply didn't path around things at all.

So... last post I saw was 6 months ago. Is the Foundry still down or has it come back up? I can't access it at all so I'm wondering if it's still down or if I need to contact someone.

There are far more current threads than necroing one from six months ago.

Yes, the Foundry came back. The foundry is brought down with each major release so that all missions can be republished. This is still ongoing for Season 8. Once the republish is complete, the editor will most likely be brought back online.
