The new UI and tray icons look like 8-bit color.

The new UI kinda reminds me of old DOS EGA color games.

MT might be a noob, but I agree with him 100%.

All the changes to the UI are extensive. New features like color sets and scaling are rather an improvement than a reason to complain. The new face of the game is vivid and stylish, no question. I think it is an important improvement.

    BUT

The rich coloring does not conform to ergonomy standards. It is straining the eyes a bit too much. The best example is the DOFF missions list: there is a mix of dark green, gold, purple, blue (rather cyan), and green, all colors together rendering a blurry sight. The lack of contrast together with quick color changes does not suit the needs of human eyes (come on, convince that Reman in your design team to do something for humans), so I would really appreciate at least a rather poor color scheme with clear contrasts and only as many different colors as needed to transport the containing information, nothing more.

A second annoyance is the layout of (communication) dialogs. They are bigger now wasting too much space for the display of unnecessary information while the interaction part (lower right) even need scrollbars. Both, the scrollbars and the dialog sizes (mostly covering other windows), are producing a larger amount of mouse clicks to find the wanted control, or to switch to another window. I would appreciate an option (global or for each window) to turn the pictures of the upper part off, or making them smaller at least.

    Just my two pence.

Oh, I would hardly call old-generation graphics design as vivid and stylish, so there is definitely question, and HARDLY an "important" improvement.

There were SO MANY other improvements they could have made, but didn't bother to, that deserve to be called "important".

    No argument here, spot on...

ABSOLUTELY... I could swear that I made the old dialog boxes smaller when I first saw them, and moved them over to the left side of the screen out of the way (the constant "do you want to warp now?" or "I'm sorry but I have to leave" messages from freighters that I never hailed in the first place... talk about being full of themselves. :) )

Now those prompts are SO FRIGGIN' HUGE!!! and highly intrusive. At the VERY LEAST, we have to be able to resize those. How throwing up those huge billboards in our faces at every opportunity was ever considered a feature to enhance the user experience, is beyond me. Probably was decided by the same guy who also thought forcing the shoulder-cam view (which prevents us from using first-person view) was also a good idea.

I agree, the new UI's DOFF window is just horrible. Hard to read and ascertain the missions or the rarity of the mission.

They were better off with the old one for the DOFF window.

Yep, the new UI looked cool from a distance (by this I mean the screenshots from Tribble before release), but when you get close and personal it's rather ugly and not practical.
