Warp Cores

startrekker22startrekker22 Member Posts: 96 Arc User
From various dev blogs and announcements, we knew that the new warp core ship system was coming. They would have various abilities as well. I also remember them stating that we don't have to use them If we don't want to. That was a Lie. I took it off as soon as i signed in and i could not move at any practical warp speed. anyone else remember this little side note? I can't even move at warp 1.

Did you actually remove the free warp core you get with your ship?

Yep, you did... Umm, ya. You don't have to buy a new warp core, no.
If you want to leave your warp core inventory slot empty, you'll need one of the special impulse engines that sets your warp speed [like the borg impulse engine].

yes. It was supposed to be unnecessary, so I should not have needed it and did not want it

I know that the ship wont run without the warp core. Not the point. It was stated that we do not have to use it if we don't want to. I don't want to. Therefore I should not need it.

So what you're saying is, you threw out the white common warp core that came free in your warp core slot without you ever having to do anything, and now you're complaining that you threw it away even though you could have completely ignored it from the beginning?

Show us the quote that says you can throw away the free warp core that gives you baseline warp function, leave the slot empty, and see no difference.

Or, you know, just stop being a terrible troll. You aren't actually fooling anyone.

Agreed. Its a free item that does not replace anything... and someone deletes it without even thinking to read the tooltip?
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Remember that episode of Voyager where aliens stole Voyager's warp core, and it couldn't warp?

    You're in it.

I'm keeping the warp core that came with the ship for now. I didn't get to see what the exchange offer. However I did see some in the Dil store. So one way or another I will get a better one next time I log on.

They said you don't have to use the Warp Core System if you don't want to. ie: You ignore it and do nothing with it.

They did not say you can actively sabotage the system and expect nothing to change.

By interacting with the warp core slot in some way (throwing away the white one you are automatically given), you are using it (to a negative effect, but you are still using it). To properly "not use it" you should have done nothing with it at all.

Saying you can ignore the system is not the same as saying the system will ignore you.

You don't have to do DOFF missions either. Ever. They aren't in the least bit required to advance in the game. They aren't even required to be successful in combat. That's your "Captain's Prerogative". And while it's true that deleting your DOFF roster won't negatively impact the way your ship works, that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

But THIS is your warp core. You don't have to do DOFF missions, you don't have to buy one from the dilithium store, and you don't have to pick up the drops. It's not slowing your ship down for lack of maintenance, nor is it making your power levels drop. But it's a warp core, the literal beating heart of your starship. You get one for free, pre-installed, don't have to do anything.

What did you think would happen if you removed it?

If you remove any other component from your ship in this game you lose the benefit it offers, such as firing weapons, having shields, or turning. So of course when you take out the part of the ship that powers superluminal flight, you're not going to fly faster than light.

If it didn't do anything then there would've been zero point in putting it in game.

    Stop arguing fictional semantics.
