Photonic Fleet can not keep up with the faster spheres

The photonic fleet is too slow. Low damage and usually vanish before they catch up to the borg spheres.

    Completely agree. I play a Sci carrier KDF, and my photonic fleet is virtually useless. Cool down takes forever-2 to 3 minutes-and the fleet packs 0 punch. Essentially, it's nothing more than a decoy. Either it needs to be revamped or replaced by a better captain ability, and the same goes for subnucleonic beam. That beam is much more viable for pvp but not so much for PVE. Crowd control and dps are king in STF's sadly, and sci's just don't cut it with their captain abilities. And please don't try to tell me that you're criting in the 1000's with your sci ship because that's with tac doffs and tac abilities, not with your sci abilities.

    I noticed the spheres were dam fast, even at 200+ impulse I couldn't even get a breather in, they're actually, a challange

    The new sphere behavior is TRIBBLE. Borg aren't that dumb.

    As of Photonic Fleet, it severely needs some additional love. As of now, I can't even justify slotting the Photonic Capacitor trait, because it's just not worth it. Now, if the fleet used more Science abilities or something, that would be something. Maybe if it tossed out heals--TSS or HE, or maybe if it tossed out some TBs or VMs or something since it obviously doesn't do much in terms of DPS.

    The sphere speed comes from the increase to Emergency Power to Engines.


    In fact you can see just how idiotic a boost NPC ships have in the game. EPTEngines is giving spheres a speed boost equivalent of an escort with a spdx3 engine on evasive maneuvers.


    not to mention all NPC's apparently run at 125/125/125/125 power settings with no ceiling.

    Yeah gotta agree photonic fleet is still poo even with the ability to reduce it's cooldown more. If it was even half as good as nimbus distress call then YES it's a worthwhile ability. As it is cooldown reduction on a bad and buggy ability is just not worth it.

    Whoa deja vue, I think I said that in the official trait feedback on the tribble forum...

    Yeah seems like the EPtX changes had unwanted side effects lol. You can clearly see how beefy they made NPCs in terms of power levels and what level of ability they get. So with the changes NPCs just clearly perform better than expected but it will also highlight weaknesses in science skills hopefully.

    I was very shocked to see when i dropped gravity wells 3 on borg spheres in the conduit STF and they powered right through it. I got one but the rest got away.

    i had to make you guys aware.. I liked the old spheres better. LOL

    I agree, the Nimbus Distress is what Photonic Fleet should be, but to a lesser degree--Photonic Fleet should be more potent. I like that the class of summoned ships scales with your level, but they still just don't do enough. I also think it'd be cool if carriers and other exotic ships had a chance to be summoned, with greater power potential too.

    I really don't mind NPCs getting a buff--they're still fairly easy to kill. I'd prefer harder enemies with better rewards, personally. The loot system in this game sucks though--everything worht a damn is reputation/fleet grind, c-store, or lockbox. :rolleyes:
