STO CRASHES my System - HELP

Really need some assistance here
I was playing at 12:45AM EDST and the game worked fine...no issues what so ever
This morning there was a HUGE update, as the server was down for an update...thats fine...no issue what needs to be done needs to be done.
Since the LAST update, I can get the the log on server screen loaded, log in, I can select my character and it opens up to where my ship is located on the map. As soon as I try to apply throttle to the ship, open inventory the game LOCKS.
ALT-CTRL-DEL does not work
ALT - TAB does not work
the System then reboots itself..
I uninstalled STO completely, re-installed it thinking that perhaps something got messed up...after this recent patch was applied 15min ago....the same thing happens as listed above.
I tried NEVERWINTER and that works fine
I tried some other online games I have and they all work fine
The ONLY GAME and PROGRAM locking up my system is STO

There will be many responses to this...with advice that sounds reasonable and some that makes sense. Do not listen to any of it, it is Star Trek Online. :rolleyes:
