Disappointment - Uniforms

cthulhufhtagn666cthulhufhtagn666 Member Posts: 3 Arc User
I am very disappointed that the Nemesis uniform can not be worn by Romulans. It seems like an artificial limitation, and there is no purpose to the limitation.

I am additionally disappointed with the colour pallet choices for particular uniforms and uniform choices, both with the old factions and with the new Romulan faction. This is especially noticable with the Romulan 22nd Century Sash.

I'm not a fan of only 2 skirts available, one long and one short.

But the short one cost 550.00z....

Color pallet is lacking and bugged. Some colors work, some don't.

    But it's a New Update, it's expected.

The TOS Romulan uniform texture looks more like a placeholder material than an actual texture.

It makes me wonder how much effort they actually put into their colouring system.
Do they make their own textures, recoloured, which is (surprisingly) the laziest way to do it.
Or do they make a single texture, which the engine is coded to recolour based on what options the player selects. This is how most modern engines handle it.

I was kind of hoping they would implement something like that, so we could use a colour wheel, rather then a limited set of static colours. Even if the colour wheel is limited based on both uniform and faction, it is still the superior way to do it, and requires less effort - in the long term.

I totally understand why they made it so that Only Reman could where the Nemesis Uniforms. Its just like the fact that certain races have special things Only they can wear. I'm thinking of Nausican Armor, and the way only the Gorn can chose not to wear footwear.

Now, with regard to the way the customization works... I just wish it would use a consistent color pallet. As it stands it seems to switch back and forth with different parts of the same item of clothing... Just drives me freaking insane. If I wasn't already!

It's a shame that at release Roms have lots of uniform options more than KDF, Cryptic should have took the chance at LoR and give new options to KDF, It's not like it would have required new art, there are NPCs at Qo'noS that have clothes that players can't get.

I have noticed the clothing issues myself. Many npcs have clothing options we simply don't, even when same faction.

On a side note: Any other lifetime subscribers (yes, I am) being shoved into a queue? I thought we were supposed to get priority.

Ha...hahaha.... HAHAHA... this has been the same issue the KDF playerbase has dealt with since Day 1 of STO. And the Feds out there even complained about us wanting more uniforms for the KDF and its major subraces to the faction.

    Welcome to the club! HAHAHAHAHA!

Helmets are in the head detail options, head attach I think, as for colours, well the feds get the brightest colours, the kdf are stuck with browns, reds and darker tints and the roms get green, brown and purple for the most part.

We do get priority, but that does not mean the game is going to boot out a f2per just to accommodate us, we are just placed at the front of the login queue. This is why I was placed 1848 out of 10k instead of like 6k like the f2pers are.

I am aware of the limited uniform choices for KDF. I prefer the KDF faction, but stopped playing one because my mate likes Fed and they don't let us team together for endgame or cross-faction content.

And, surprise surprise, they are doing the same thing with Romulans. Limited uniform choice, and Romulans who ally with opposite factions can no longer team together.

Not too bad. Now under 400 out of over 14,000. Still, stupid. Would rather the server boot f2pers for subscribers :-P

Oh well, could be worse. It was impossible to log into STO for like a week when f2p launched
