I've been going through alot of different builds trying to find one that works, but so far i cant find one.

It also doesnt help that I haven't played STO in over a year, so any help would be appeciated. :D

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=hecbuild_0

The Assimilated gear was from before the reputation system came in, season four i think. (Though i could be wrong.)

I've been trying to go for Romulan DHCs and turrets, also been saving up for Elite Scorpion fighters. Though I'm not sure if i should go with MACO, Omega, or either of the Romulan Rep prototypes.

Also, are the Fleet Escort Retrofits any good?

    I don't see anything glaringly wrong, unless your Skills actually are blank (I'm guessing you just didn't enter them). Biofunction Monitor (or crew in general) doesn't help much, going with a shield capacity console instead would help your survivability. AEGIS isn't that great of a shield, though handy for leveling. If you have MACO Shields available to you, put those on instead. Dropping one of the rear turrets for the Kinetic Cutting Beam will help with chewing through the large HP of the Borg if you're doing STFs, and gives a three piece bonus that helps you tank on occasion.

    What is it that you find lacking currently? DPS? Survivability?

    Yeah, my bad, i forgot to select them. (XP)

    I do have a Borg Shield XI I use most of the time. It greatly increases my survivability so I don't have to worry about my shields as much, but I clicked the Aegis shield because of a moment of stupidity.

    For now I feel a lack of DPS. I've recently tried a torp boat version of this with photon torps and it was rather devastating, though shredding shields is a problem. (Tetryon seemed to help a bit)

    The biggest problem i have is a general lack of direction and what my build would be defined as amoung the many that are out there. I'm still trying to relearn everything.

    I just recently refit my Armitage HEC with a full complement of Romulan Rep weapons, the Romulan Singularity Harness set and Mk.XII very rare Reman prototype equipment set with elite scorpions.

    It was always a terrifically powerful ship. But now it feels like I'm committing a war crime every time I bring her into battle.

    The two-piece bonuses from the Rom sets also apply to the Scorpions, so there's a lot of very deadly plasma flying around.

    You should have plenty of damage out going, it's not going to top combat logs in team events, but still should be pulling it's weight without much difficulty. So long as you have your power levels set to the damage preset, and are lining up things in your DHC's arcs, and maybe slowing down a bit so you don't have to make multiple passes you should be able to chew through most things pretty decently. Mk XI is no longer top end being supplanted by Mk XII standard and fleet (4 mods on fleet weapons, though limited choice), but Mk XI blue stuff should be fine even in Elite PvE.

    Could be tactics, maybe watching some videos on Youtube of using escorts to give you a better idea of how things work currently?

    The Fleet HEC is better because of the increased Hull Points and extra Sci console slot. That would allow you to move either the Zero-point Energy Conduit or the Assimiliated Module over freeing up space for a 2nd Neutronium Alloy.

    As far as your setup goes, replace one of the turrets with the Kinetic Cutting Beam. It's part of the 3-piece set with the Module and Omega Launcher. Having all 3 pieces will see spikes in DPS when the Omega Weapon Amplifier activates.

    If you can, replace the Peregrines with the Advanced version (Very Rare). Though, if you're going for the Elite Scorpion's, hold off until you get those.

    *Side Note - No tactical energy boost console affects pets at this current time.*

    For your Deflector, Engines, and Shields, a combination that has been working for most people in here is the Adapted MACO Mk XII Shields and Engines (which give a 25% boost to torpedoes and will replace your biofunction monitor for having 2/3 of the 3-piece set) and the MACO Mk XII Deflector (which will increase your shields and hull).

    If your going for a plasma energy setup, use the Reman Prototype's. All three combined with the Experimental Beam Array, Hyper-Plasma Launcher, and ZPEC can increase the amount of extra DPS you can do as a result of plasma burn. And the Romulan DHC's have the Disruptor proc added in. Reducing resistance and having plasma burn will rip through most things.

    @Sander233: If you think that is bad, try using TSIII and TPDS with Photon Detonation Assemply Mk XII very rares. In a group facing 5 enemies with no shields, 8 torps per 5 targets then add the 5 salvos of 6 torps from the TPDS.

    45 + 30 = 75

    Add 18 for 3 additional targets the TPDS, and you get 93 matter-antimatter warheads going towards a bunch of now defenseless mooks. (Macross eat your heart out. :D) For those who dont understand, click here, Macross Missile Massacre)

    @tom61sto: Most of my tactics is usually the basic. Get within 5km for the cannons to take max effect of the cannon's damage with alternating CRF III and I along with alternating THY III and II. When attacked, depending on the situation, either tough it out or back off to get into a better position. Hit-and-run tactics when needed.

    @risingstar2009: I'm not in a fleet that moment, i tend to disappear from STO for prologned periods of time. So i mostly solo play.

    Should i got for shield emitter amplifier or emitter array?

    Also, is the reason why people use the reman and not the romulan purly astetic or is there something extra in the reman?

    I can tell you this:

    1 - Remove that Omega Torpedo Launcher ... The only Plasma torpedo i can suggest you is the romulan one (for PVE), or go Quantum.

    2 - For PVE, remove the Torpedo Point Defense, the Zero Point Console, the BioFunction Monitor Console and a turret, replace them with:

    Turret -> Kinetic Cutting Beam
    Bio-Function -> Feld Generator
    Torpedo Point Defense -> Neutronium
    Zero-Point -> Neutronium

    and put the Assimilated Console in a Science Slot.

    That's why I call it "The Button That Makes Everybody Die." :cool:

    Emitter amp boosts innate regen. Emitter array boosts shield heal skill. And then Field generator boosts shield capacity. It really depends on what sort of shield you're using and which stat needs the most boost.

    There is no real difference between the romulan and reman sets, just the Reman is prettier.
