For those that need to know if they should see it or not. . don't. It is packed with action, terrible acting really really bad cliches and it rehashes in a very bad way the Wrath of Khan. It has it all. It has KHAAAAAAAAAN but this time said by Spock, Kirk dying in the reactor instead of Spock, kirk coming back to life because he is that spethol, section 31 openly being used (so much for secret organization), and overall really bad acting. I had hopes this would be half decent, I kept my hopes low so I would not be diaappointed, but even still I was. Let's not even mention the Klingons and their Uruk Hai and horrible piercings.
Overall, since I was very mildly entertained, and I use that word loosely, I will give it 3.5/10. This has as much trek as transformers is about a love story.
NERF CANNONS - THEY NEED A 50% NERF
CRUISERS NEED A 206% HULL BUFF
I don't plan to bother seeing it to be honest. Too many cliches and too much cheese for my liking, from what I've seen and read.
And I am NOT saying this as an anti-JJ rant; I wouldn't/don't bother with ANY movie with a plot I don't like the look/sound of and elements that I, personally, consider to be cliche and cheesy.
I found it that and more. It felt too much like a cheapened rehash by someone who wanted togive the movie the bird.

Lol why so much hate for the new films around these forums. Eh w/e I've seen it three times like I did the first Abrams film(with a different group of people each time) and don't feel at all ripped off. It's not as good the first one but it's still a fun romp.
Wrath of Khan and First Contact were actiony and they are the best old trek films for TOS and TNG, I was never bothered by them so won't be by this one.
I do hope they tone down the action and go for more drama and conspiracy in the next one in 2016/17 though.
kirk coming back to life because he is that spethol,
That's using Search for Spock not TWOK.
section 31 openly being used (so much for secret organization),
Doctor Bashir told O'Brien AND Sisko about Section 31. So much for secret organization?

Best bit of the movie not involving Alice Eve was the part when the Klingons rappelled down out of their ship mid-combat. The Klingons were fine. Their armor is practically used in this game already. And their appearance was just fine, ridges and all.
I watched it at midnight. Here's the thing about this movie. Many (but not all) of the complaints I've seen about it are pretty much valid.
That said, I loved it. I didn't love every detail. I thought the Kirk/Spock scene was a bit too much.
But I loved the references and I loved that this movie didn't slow down for a minute. I thought the acting was good (just my opinion; not more or less valid than yours). I loved that it used set pieces as much as CGI.
It was a popcorn flick and I had a blast with it.
That said, I don't really blame the folks who hated it.
I loved Trek for the better part of 4 decades, but I'm an extremely easy-to-please fan. The only Trek I actively disliked was Voyager. I liked all the movies and even loved Enterprise, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Bottom line, I came out of the theater feeling like I'd had a great time watching a fun (albeit light) romp. That's all I expected going in and it's exactly what I got.
I think it's very similar to reactions to the fourth Indiana Jones movie. If the refrigerator scene was something that bothered you in Indy IV, you probably won't like this movie. If you didn't mind the fridge bit and just enjoyed the ride in the fourth Indy film, you'll probably like this movie.
