No Warpcore for Feds via Replay

aegon1iceaegon1ice Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I think this needs to be addressed. Since Warpcores have become an essential part of itemization and used for Sector Space travel it puts Federation players into an unfair and disadvantaged position.

Klingons get a Warpcore as a mission reward, Romulans get many Singularity Cores and there is not a single one available for the Federation players.

Chiming in, I was disappointed to see no Warp Core that was at least on par with the Klingon one. I like the Transwarp cooldown the KDF one gives and was hoping to find a similar one on the Federation side.

    Nope. Not one there.

I'd be more tempted to run a Fed-only mission and KDF-only mission that both awarded these cores rather than playing the same KDF mission twice and trading one. (And I actually don't know if we're able to trade them. If not, then the Federation really did get the bad end of that stick on Warp Cores.)

Interesting. I hadn't even noticed this.

and I love the one they gave us... a white MKX one (depending on rank).... what does it do... not a thing.

It makes a great cup holder. My CD tray is so happy now.

You get a green MK XI one by doing the Nimbus III missions.

Other than that, you can buy one from the dil store and eventually exchange.

Congrats, your a FED player. You've been at an advantage since the beggining. The odds have just been evened. >:D

    ...

Now, being more serious, there will be ways to get Warp Cores... specifically, Crafting and the Dilithium Store will be core sources.

My point is that new players will have no way to get a "starter" Warpcore, while all other factions do get one.
There is so much TRIBBLE loot attached to the missions - especially for FEDs that the reward tables could be revised with better and more meaningful items.?

...You do realize that your ship will start with a Warp Core, right? Like, a standard-issue one. It should suffice until you can afford a better one.

That, again, is the OP's point. Roms and KDF will upgrade their warp cores as they go, while new Fed players will be stuck with basically the common Core that comes with each ship.

What if you were stuck with the white standard shields that came with your ship for ten levels, no quest rewards to upgrade with, and a very low drop rate that the Warp Cores appear to have?

That was added only after requests; first implementation of the zone only had a Singularity Core as a reward. And as of yesterday, the Replay reward for that mission didn't offer one.

As opposed to the Klingons and Romulans, who can get them while gaining levels through missions.

I'd wait till level 50 and start crafting them, like I usually do with equipment? My KDF Officer ran around with TRIBBLE equipment until level 50, at which point I went to the exchange and went on a shopping spree of sorts to deck the new ship out.

But I suppose this doesn't work for most people...

Or they could do like Kit Rewards : you get a box that unpacks in one of your profession's kit. They could do the same with Warp Cores and reward a Faction-specific Warp Core, Federation and KDF Captains would get M/AM Warp Cores, while Romulan Captains would get Singularity Warp Cores.

Guess it's too bad WC's aren't craft able then isn't it?

Not to mention crafting anything above Mk7 costs dil (in the form of unreplicatables).

That's my main problem with it too.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

    Wait... what? They aren't craftable?

    ...

Well, Mk X White it is. The @#*& do I care at that point... the rest of my equipment is awesome, I'll deal.

Nope, and it seems that only Romulans get Duty Officer assignments to create them.

So far, the only known sources for M/AM warp cores are the first-time completion reward for one of the Nimbus missions, some of the new Klingon missions, the Dilithium store, and random drops (although the drop rate seems to be much worse than the other major components giving a lie to the dev statement that a desirable warp core should be no harder to attain than desirable shield arrays etc).

I also hear they're purchasable from a vendor (For Energy Credits), though they'd be commons.

Still... ouch. Maybe they'll be craftable eventually...

Yeah, forgot about the EC vendor version. Common quality odd number Marks only, so only the most basic of their mechanics available that way.

As for making them craftable eventually -- probably not via the "R&D" mechanic, at least not before that receives the promised overhaul.

Yep, Feds are stuck to random drops ><. Not craftable, no mission repeat award.

Best option is running a KDF through that mission and mailing over. The mission that KDF has that gives a core for repeat isn't even a NEW mission but an old one with a new reward list. WHY didn't Fed's get that treatment?

Oh more to this. Both Rom and KDF both get BLUE shuttle weapon awards from Vault repeat, Fed still gets WHITE. Don't know about Operation Gamma yet, my KDF isn't there yet, but KDF now gets the FULL Cardassion arc that Fed does, not just the new 2800.

Actually, no, there is a M/AM Warp Core creation Duty Officer assignment. Of course, since LoR went live, I've seen it exactly once on the two characters I have, so it isn't exactly common.

That statement of mine was made nearly a week before the expansion went live, and based on what was known at that time.

Personally, though, I'm quite happy to have been wrong.

Drake gives a warp core at the end of Installation 14 (?) mission in the Nimbus chain. It's a terrible one though.
