It could just be me and how I'm using it but is the D'deridex Warbird far weaker than it should be? It turns painfully slow but as its so big this is justified but its available stations and weapons seem to be lacking. I can kill much faster and take more damage in my Mogai than I can my D'deridex and surely this shouldnt be the case?
I found the opposite, other than speed and turning rate I have found the D'Deridex more powerful than the mogai, that will probably change at the admiral levels, I haven't settled on how I want to play the big old bird but atm I'm using a combination of cannons, beams and turrets with the bio molecular war head in the front and I'm oddly finding it extremely powerful.
by the time you get to the next rank you will be thankful for the tankiness and durability of the De'deridex. It certainly has its place even if you fly it mainly as a Beamboat with DBB's.

You do realize you're comparing a heavy escort (Mogai) to a battleCruiser (D'deridex), right? One is geared for DPS (with slightly more tanking than other escorts), one is geared for tanking (with slightly more dps than other cruisers).
The mogai is always going to do more damage (or at least burst damage) than a D'deridex, and that's normal. But the D'deridex will (or at least should) outlast a Mogai in a fight.
I too had no real issues with the ship. The only time I had to really turn was when I was moving from objective to objective. It might has killed mobs slightly slower than the other ships but I hardly took damage and nothing was threat.
The only issue would be the BO stations but at that level they were fine and appropriate.
And really with a well placed Evasive manuvers you can spin around fairly quickly.
I think people are being too judgemental about a low level ship you'll only use for a couple hours
Sure, you might need to use battlecloack more on the dex to get the turn rate boost to turn to the new spawn but in essence: both ships will obliterate pve.
The capt level d'deridex is actually not that bad, with v.rare rcs consoles, plasma consoles, and beams ( single and dual ), turrets i managed to really get something out of it. Oh and with cannon doff and Marion Francis daulmar ( spell check ) it out-shone the galaxy ( all weapons, consoles were copied from holodeck ).

For pvp: as always, escorts rule by design.
It makes a great Dragon. It's especially fun tricking those stupid Elachi frigates into subspace jumping into warp plasma clouds.
But yeah.... it's a space whale....
