I agree, I played it also last night.
I began at half past 10 and I was so in the story I completly lost track off time, I stopped at 3:40 next morning. It was awsome.
Well they may want to redo Feds and Klingons also otherwise people will start naging again why the romies are so special and the feds and klings are not.
On one hand they did an amazing job but they made one big mistake and to make it up they have to redo mission writing on Klingons and Feds otherwise it would be unfair !!

Actually Klingos got a makeover as well to some of their missions, the Federation got no makeover in their story missions.

Nimbus 3 was added to the Fed mission track.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
i played through the KDF tutorial and some missions, cause i do not wanna spoil the Romulan gameplay surprise, but i have to say Cryptic made a hell of a job.
It feels real klingon! the cutscenes, the new environments, new textures, just wonderfull!
i wonder if our lvl 50 KDF toons will have the opportunity to play through the new tutorial and stories?
also thank you cryptic for changing the stats on legacy pack ships, now i can create my Romulan Sci main as i planned since 2009
I just wanted to send a thank you specifically to the STO dev team.
I've been playing (and enjoying) Star Trek Online since the original beta, and last night I gave the "Legacy of Romulus" open-beta content a look.
I could write a laundry list of all the things I like, but instead, I'll spare you, and just say, yet again, thank you.
This being a Forum, I imagine that this post will now become a hate-magnet for the trolls, and I apologize for that.
I simply felt compelled to try to put my thanks out where they might be seen by the people who actually do the work on the game.
Be well,
Well said sir. Cryptic as a whole make great MMO's I have yet to play a bad one. I would like thank Cryptic for making my spare time over the last 9 years that little bit more enjoyable ^_^
I played all but the last 3 missions, I wanted to save them for when it goes live but I loved every min of it. I loved how they did the boffs giving them a small amount of story was a vast improvement.
I love my KDF toons on Holodeck but I am a little tempted to delete one of them just to start again after playing through the new KDF tutorial on Tribble... it's that big a difference.
So glad I bought a Starter Pack for LoR and have Remans unlocked... it's going to be legen - wait for it - dary!
PS - Just been to KDF space dock and nearly wet myself laughing! I won't spoil it but it really is the little things which make a difference!

I actually decided not to play the Romulan material this weekend, so I can go into it fresh on launch. Instead, I tried out the new Klingon tutorial/starter mission chain, and I love it.
Well, other than the voice acting. Seriously, you don't have to try and lower your voice to do a decent Klingon. If your voice isn't naturally low, it just... doesn't sound right.
Aside from that, the story itself is fantastic. Love the "cameo" by a character familiar to Fed players. And the whole flow of the story really does bring out the Klingon culture for players new to the faction. It really is a solid introduction, much better than the old KDF intro.

I'm in total agreement on the new Klingon material. I haven't played all that much, but I can't think of a better way to introduce new Klingon players and to give them a ship. From the use of the Klingon words sprinkled in there to the story itself, it just feels very Klingon--just like others have said.
Major improvements (of course!) over the old start to Klingon characters.
And the UI and new NPC chat windows are just plain gorgeous. Like others, if I can stand the wait, I'm going to hold off playing the Rom story until launch. I'm excited for my main to have a new rep system to work through as well.
I agree--Cryptic did a great job with this one. I only started playing in January so I can't compare to other updates, but from all I've heard, this one is massive--and they did it very well.
I playing in the closed beta and loved the Romulan story so much I had to stop aying--I didn't want to spoil it for myself when it goes live. Instead I just piddled around with Fed stuf and the new Klingon tutorial.
And that is great too. Like a poster above, I'm contemplating erasing my current KDF (who just for to level 50--just so I can play the new missions. But I figure it's good farming for my 50 toon to go through.
There are issues, ont the least of which are the server problems they're having this weekend, but if those can get cleared up I have high praise for this game. Well done!
I've been here since pre-launch beta, and I have never been more impressed with Cryptic regarding this new content.
What's even more incredible to me is I didn't have to buy anything. I also play (or played, more likely going forward) Old Republic, and their Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion was... meh. And it costed money.
I have to agree. I've really enjoyed the new Rom content (just started KDF) ...Good story lines and a few missions that are really tough to complete without dying when bumped up to advanced.
my only complaint is that they have made an oversight that many expansions with a new race/class with new starting areas seem to miss also.
The new missions drag you out past the normal levels where you would begin crafting, doing dilithium and exploration dailies.
At the very least the new rom toons could pick those quests up from their new allies at the appropriate level.
Same from me too! Me and my friends tried it out and have'nt had enough! I wrote about it and a few suggestions too in my latest thread 2 Thumbs Up! They really did a good job and imo, if they add a few resize options to the HUD, I'd say supercallifragillisticexpialidocious! lol, greatest season yet regardless.
EDIT:
greydog, that plan on living forever... so far so good here too
While I too thank the Devs so far for the awesome work they are doing in regards to Rommie expansion - there are far more pressing matters that need to be addressed at the moment. The recent bugs that has been surfacing, recently the "I cannot join or re-join a fleet bug" which is hindering gameplay.
by the way great job on the Romulan intro (tutorial) I am liking it. However; please address the bug mentioned.
OP the only thing I take exception to in your post is you thought there would be more hate-mongers
This free game expansion is some of the best work I have seen to any F2P title. The amount of content we are getting with this is something other companies would ask us to PAY for.
I'd also like to add that i enjoyed the additional KDF content and what i saw of the Romulan additions.
I didn't get much time in the open beta like i wanted but 5th child was born over weekend, however with that said the 2 hours i intended to spend in game prior to sleep turned into 5 hours due to how much i enjoyed it. This expansion has breathed a lot of new life into the game with fully playable Romulan faction and increased the fun factor of the KDF faction making them no longer just a dilithium grind or PvP side of the game.
Thumbs up, kudos and whatever else signifies a job well done.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Great work.
ABSOLUTELY.
Used to WoW, I expected the Romulans to become available ONLY if you bought at least the Starter Pack... which would have bugged me quite a bit.
Instead it's all free, so I think I may buy it after all (well sorry, the Legacy one is simply beyond my finances) to thank the Dev team. of the good work.
Just wanted to add my thanks as well, played through to level 17 and I enjoyed every moment of it. The best thing for me was how well the story was written and how much character was given to the (recurring) NPC's. I was a bit hesitant about the fixed starter bridge officers when I first read about it, but with the amount of character they are given I'm certainly going to continue using them on Holodeck as well. Problem is, I now want this much backstory for all my existing characters as well.
I did Romulans on Closed Beta, so tried out the new KDF stuff this weekend. Ship interiors outstanding. First City has a fresh look/feel to it.
And my favotite part?
When doing the KDF mission in the Exchange (Notifying Doran's husband of her death) after fighting the Nausican Smugglers, make sure you interact with the Ferengi running around the map. I laughed so hard I almost pee'd myself.
They should make that option available for any Feregi you come in contact with regardless of what faction you are playing.
I too had tested the Romulans extensively in closed Beta so I gave the KDF a shot. All of my mains are KDF. Fed side is not appealing to me. Don't know why. After a few hours I get bored. Although I had been waiting after the Romulans for a long time I might actually create a new Klingon just to start the storyline from level 1 again. Yeah, my KDF were created back in a time when you started at lvl 1 levelling through PvP and countless kill the Federation/Romulans/Cardassians/Borg missions...
I love what you have done devs and especially the new look of the K'tanco. I hadn't flown one in years so the moment I saw it I took it:D
One question however: I thought Sela was back? I must have missed something because altough we do see a lot of her it's actually in the past. We don't see her after she's taken by the Iconians.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that we'll see more of Sela after your Romulan captain gets past the "Romulan Mystery" FE series.

I don't blame him for thinking that. If you've been on the other end of forum haters, you'd think the same way too.
