Lifetime sub vs. Legacy Pack

Hi,

First let me say that I'm planning on maining a Romulan when the xpac hits. After looking over the perks the lifetime sub offers, unless I'm missing something, it seems to be overpriced for what you get "extra" that non-gold accounts do not.

In other peoples' opinions, would it be more worth the money for me to just get the Legacy Pack instead of getting a Lifetime sub? Does that automated dilithium conversion perk make a significant impact later on?

In a perfect world (pun intented) I could afford to just get both. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to decide on either lifetime, or legacy pack.

    Well, here's my suggestion:

Lifetime subscription is best if you are one or more of the following:

    1. If you intend on playing this game for a really long time.

    2. If you have at least 3 toons at the bare minimum you play on a consistent basis.

    3. You like the fact that you would be getting all those bonuses on every toon you ever make.

The Legacy Pack would be more for if you intend on making more than one Romulan, because otherwise you'd be paying a LOT of cash for a single toon. Sure you would have all those lovely ships at the start, but you'd only ever use them for one character. Making multiple characters though lets you have more uses for them.

Basically, you only want the Lifetime if you are gonna keep a fairly decent amount of toons running at a time, because that will help make the Lifetime actually feel worth while (That's why I bought it), and only really get the Legacy pack if you intend on making multiple Romulan toons (Same reason again for me).
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I don't have either, but I've been thinking about them.

I have four characters now, and four free slots (likely to be another KDF and three Romulans). If the Lifetime Sub retroactively applied the veteran rewards (such as all the ship slots and respec tokens, etc) to each character, I think that would be well worth having. I do not know if it does or not.

As far as the Legacy Pack, if you plan on one Romulan character, I just don't see the point. You'll unlock the Reman species that you won't be using, and a ton of ships, when it's most likely you will reach tier 5 rather quickly, and it would be far cheaper to just level your Romulan character and then purchase the one ship you want to play at the end. $20-$25 instead of $130.

$300 for the Lifetime Sub is difficult for me to do, but if it does apply to each character, I would have to try and pull it off.

I have the lifetime sub and I love it, instead of paying monthly or being free I don't have to worry about paying for the game AND I get 500 zen a month to spend on whatever there is. As far as the legacy pack and stuff go you can always buy that later. I would go for the lifetime sub that way if you go away for a couple of weeks or months, your stuff will be right where it was when you left and not have to worry about anything being deleted.

Whoa, stuff gets deleted if you're not a lifetime member? What?

Um, no? Nothing gets deleted. Not sure where that came from. If you go from paying (Gold) back to free (Silver) your inventory doesn't shrink back down either. Just plain incorrect. Unless you've been TRIBBLE. :)

Think of lifetime as an Extended Gold Subscription. I don't have the exact math in front of me, but basically if you are going to be a Gold Subscriber for I think it was about 2 years, Lifetime is totally worth it. Because after that amount of time, you would have paid the equivalent amount or possibly more to maintain your subscription, and the Lifetime one never expires.

As for the Legacy. Like many I passed. With the exception of the titles and Doff mini-pack, there is nothing there that you can't buy on the C-store at or near Launch. And all those ships would be wasted when I really only need one Romulan character.

Again it is up to you and what is best for you.

    Apples and Oranges.

The only thing that Lifetime sub and Legacy Pack have in common is that they are both >$100.
You should think of the Legacy Pack as a C-Store purchase that you are directly buying in $ instead of Z. Now the questions are formated properly:

    1. Do I want to be a Silver, Gold, Lifetime sub?
    2. Does this C-store item (character increase, Fed ship, More DOFF, LEGACY PACK, etc..) provide value to me?

Everyone answers question 1 and 2 differently.

I picked up the Legacy pack, because I would've ended up buying more than half that stuff off the C-Store anyway. :)

That said, if you're looking for the most economical plan, I'd say Lifetime is better. You get all of the benefits of a Gold subscriber, plus the ability to play a Borg captain, the special titles & Captain's Table access... but most importantly, you get a stipend of 500 C-store points per month. At the $299 price point, you'll break even vs. a Gold subscription in roughly 2 years (16 months if you get one of the $199 sales). That's 12,000 C-Store points over the 2 year period.

12k isn't quite enough to cover all the Legacy C-store unlocks, but you'll still be getting your stipend past that point, too. Eventually, you can unlock all the stuff in the Legacy pack (minus the unique titles & Nemesis uniform).

For me, I found it better to go ahead and get the Legacy Pack. I plan on playing at least two Romulan characters, and having all the ship unlocks is worth the price to me. The rest is just gravy. If Cryptic brings back the $199 Lifetime sale this summer, I'll probably pick that up too. "Romulan Borg Captain" just sounds awesome. :D But, there's no guarantee when (or if) that sale will happen again, so I'll just take this and have fun with it.

From what DSthal told me in game, Everything in the LP is available in the Cstore, so i am taking that to mean the Nemisis Uniform also.

I went lifetime for most of the reasons listed above.

I would go for the Lifer first.

Some of the end game ships are available for you as Lifer and you will ''only'' miss out on some of the small stuff in the Legacy pack.
    Check out the ship update.

In any case you will most likely be able to get the Legacy Pack a couple of months in the future. So really don't believe that should be your priority. Life perks are best as it follows account.
