When on the administration level, in the station commanders office, it is possible to (spoilers ahead) kill the station commander, before Hakeev hails and the rest arrive. THis means that you can not talk to him, meaning you cna not continue the mission.

    Didnt get that when I did it. Although I did notice the bridge officers jumping about like crazy.

    Yup, station commander's hostile by default, as opposed to turning hostile after a scripted event. As a rule, I tend to run through missions with myself targeted so that autoattack does all of the work, so the moment I ran into the room, my toon one-shots the commander with the high density beam.
