A lot of people are going to be using an MMO test server for the first time, and this is primarily for them. If you're going to make another "ZOMG PWE WON'T LET ME PLAY A ROMULAN FFFUUUUUU-" thread, please calm down, take a few deep breaths, and read this instead.

The Open Beta will begin after today's Tribble patch. For your convenience, simply go to the Tribble - Announcements and Release Notes forum here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?f=228

When a new patch dated today, 5/10/2013, shows up there, that is when you will be able to create a Romulan on Tribble. It wouldn't be unwise to log in to Tribble just to patch it so you don't have to download as much when the patch does go live. Don't be surprised if its unstable, either, they'll likely be under fairly heavy load.

Edit: Open Beta is now Live, Romulans and Klingons available for character creation.

    Actually today has been my first day of testing and im just enjoying the new visuals on the tutorial and first couple of missions.

    As you are clearly a long time tester can you tell me something?

    I have a lot of unlocked c store ships on holodeck can I access them on Tribble?

    Well the best way would be to copy a holodeck character with the ships you want, c-store or otherwise over to Tribble. You can do that by clicking "My Account" at the top of the page and then "Character Transfer".

    That way you can have everything you have on the live servers, not just ships.

    C-store proper is off on Tribble. There is a console on ESD that was pasing out free ships, Don't know if that still works, I'm gonna go try.

    cstore is disabled on tribble so you can't claim any of your items.

    but as said, copying your character from holodeck to tribble gives you everything you have on your toon. you can't claim new cstore ships but you'll have the ones you already have.

    :( Despite having a level 50+ Fed toon in Tribble, I still cannot access the Romulan creation. Is that only for pre-orders and Cryptic forgot to tell us about it?

    Open beta for romulans is not on yet. check back later.

    Someone just posted that the Tribble server is going down in 15 minutes for a new patch. So, if true, it won't be long now. :)
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Hey guys this is for non-closed beta peoples i know but, take it from me after almost three weeks of romulan testing i haven't even been on holodeck, for me its the best STO has ever been and can't wait to see what everyone else makes of it all! Seriously just enjoy the ride.

    I'm partial to Shatner performing "Rocket Man". He is living entirely up himself, here, it is hilariously awful. Ballad of Bilbo Baggins is good too.

    So... How do we know we're able to obtain the 'right update'? I'm still looking for the 'announcement.' I actually started the d/l at about 11:45am... So looks like I should just wait? Also, would it be 'okay' to download the patch and also play at the same time?

    You can't do that the way the launcher works.

    (you can't play on Tribble till it updates on yer computer)

    Can't patch and play the game unless you use the normal game client's .exe file. Can't do it with two patch launchers open at the same time.

    I was lucky enough to get to start a few weeks ago and had been leveling a toon and it was gone after the patch....why? I had been stuck due to a bug and had just figured out how to get past it and I have to start over.

    Other than this I appreciate the new content and was having some fun.
