Honestly? I'll play on day one if the UK connection is up to the task. The only coin-toss left for me is Romulan or Reman. I figure that, even with people grinding out the race or just buying it outright, more people are going to roll rommies so I like the idea of Reman just to be one of the few... even if it is only for a few days... otherwise it feels like a waste of RoMarks.

PS - I decided upon shorthand for the marks, figuring we'll have too many to type by next year.
    RoMarks
    O'Marks
    ThoMarks
and (if Dominion is ever a rep project) D'ohMarks :D

Lol, love the short hand! Let's keep the Ro and O marks, but I like 'MinMarks better for the eventual dominion rep tree. On the topic of choosing a race, I am doing Reman for some of the same reasons. It will definitely be more unique than Romulans since those don't cost anything for silvers.

On my main KDF I got both Omega and Romulan Rep-tree finished at T5... On my second KDF toon however I got Rom up to T3 and Omega nearing T3.

I consider my Klingon character a secondary character since i really don't enjoy the klingon style that much, but i maxed out both Omega and romulan reputation on both.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I did the Tau Dewa Sector patrol for the first time yesterday, and it was kind of fun trying out the different missions from an RP standpoint. I kind of liked the beam out the artifacts mission because it was somewhat reminiscent of the TNG episode involving artifact smuggling. Today, I tried out the Nequencia mission (because I saw you mentioned it) which isn't too hard to do without guides. TBH, though, I don't think I could rinse and repeat without getting sick of it quickly. I'd rather try out the different patrol missions, and some of them are kind of fun. The Gekli escort mission was cool because you had to protect and guide the Gekli's from poachers who probably wanted to kill them and make a soup out of them. The only thing I didn't like about it was the gekli's weren't unpredictable enough like they were in TNG. The elder gekli should have defended the flock with that shockwave we saw the gekli use in TNG. The AI wasn't particularly bright either. I sent my pets to gnaw at them from afar and the AI never fought back unless I came within their range.

That Gekli mission is actually kind of broken. There's a couple groups Hirogen escorts that will just sit there without firing back at all, and if you take them out then the poachers stop attacking the gekli and the hunting party doesn't show up. Plus it only counts for 15% of the sector patrol.

I used to do it with radiation scan mission, hitting all five systems on the route, and finish up with a quick stop at Acamar or Nequencia, but after trying to run my third character through the rep it all got old, so I just settled for the patrol stop that's quickest/easiest to finish.

I get see that at times, where the group just sits there. I found out if you don't attack them, the rest of the party will show up. Take that out, then go out after the ones just sitting there. They don't attack and easy pickings. Then the mission is complete. I done it that way a plenty of times.

I have my KDF main at T5 Omega and about 10 days away from T5 Romulan which equals to getting to T5 Romulan the day after the LoR expansion goes live. If only I logged on that day I didn't last week. lol

I won't be grinding Tholian Rep, I find it too much of a chore for the passive traits and some items. If it was a faction or account grind through the tiers and you only have to do the projects for say leveling and item unlocks/purchases for individual characters I would grind up.

Omega is trivial to max out; I've done it on 9 characters.

Romulan is a pain, and I've gotten to T5 on only one. And that is the only one I intend to go past T4 on, except possibly on a new Romulan toon. We need decent space missions for Romulan Rep!

Oh, I fully agree. We need more Tal Shiar missions to unlock with Rommie rep. It would be cool if there were missions unlocked after tier 5 that required the precision use of the Rommie mask energy signature you get.

I just got my Rom rep tree up to tier 3 myself :D. Only about 25 more days to go before I unlock tier 5 Q_Q! As the Dos Equis man says, stay grindy my friends.

So fed rommie then? Tac, engie, or sci? You know what? I've actually changed my mind. I'm going to be rolling a Reman sci now in preparation for whatever sci carrier is released. I like the unique playing styles that science offers over the beam whaling and laser pew pewing of the engies and tacs.

I ran it again yesterday, and I think I know why it's broken. If you fly directly over the lit up path, only 1 or 2 groups will probably hit you. I think Cryptic assumed we would be fly off the beaten path in a it of anger brought on by the senseless gekli poaching to whip the fear of god into the mean poachers. Guess Cryptic never figured we were that lazy :p.

On six toons O_O. I think my brain just exploded trying to imagine how much time that took. Oh gawd, get it out of my head!!! haha. I swear, I'm going to open up the first rehabilitation clinic for STO rep tree addicts in the U.S. Flyers in the waiting area will say something like: "Life isn't over at tier 5".

Yep, the winter eppohs made it extremely easy to finish it. Really, all it took was a daily PvP race, that rewarded eppoh tags (12 for 1st, 6 for 2nd and 2 or 3? for 3rd). I was able to collect hundreds of eppoh tags which I could turn in for doff assignments that would yield 100~200 rom marks after 3 days. After a week I was able to chain multiple assignments and make those rom marks per day. I know people who still haven't run out of rom marks yet, or they're too lazy to convert it all into dilithium because it's so much.

Here's a guide I found on the forums.

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=469481

That should give you a head start. For now, all I can say is that you will need some good doffs, preferably rare or very rare if you can afford it. Biologists and research scientists seem to be the best choice as they have the best traits to get a critical results (there could be other better choices of doffs though).

Basically, all it takes is to go with a friend to New Romulus's eppoh fields, grab the daily eppoh tagging mission from one of the NPCs there and tag as many eppohs as possible. Do this mission with at least 1 teammate, otherwise you're wasting your time. You can ask in the zone chat for assistance but it's better to go in with a fleetmate and/or friend. Optimal amount to get is 30. The rest is to do a series of chain doffs assignments, which you want to crit as often as possible lol. So it helps to have good doffs with the right traits. At the end of 5 days or 7 days, you should have up to 400 rom marks. If you decide to this everyday, I think you can chain multiple assignments and make that amount each day after the first week.

I haven't done the eppoh tagging on new romulus though, I find it too tedious and boring. At the very least they should give us a way to transwarp to new romulus, that'll definitely motivate me to go there more often.

hmmm, chaining the assignments and getting around 400 days does sound enticing. Once I get tired of doing tholian red alerst and the Tau Dewa patrol, I'm definitely going to check it out. One big problem with it, though, is that I'd have to cough up 3-4 mil for the biologists and research scientists. I would rather earn marks another way and just spend that 3-4 mil on my Reman once he's unlocked. What do you think?

I have two of my Klingons at the end of the Romulan Rep, they are carrier drivers and I wanted the Scorpions for them. Another is about half way through T4.

I'm not sure if I'm going to start a new character with the expansion. I have twelve already.Theres a few big mods for other games I'm waiting for right now that are do out really soon. If they come out, well I'm going there for a bit.

If I do start a new character it will be a Reman.

Everything the devs have said so far indicates that tier 5 rommie unlocks the Reman faction, so you should be good to go come May 21rst.

Remans represent! Lol. Us Remans have to band together or the Tal Shiar will squash us like bugs.

Been looking at a couple of star trek mods myself for sins of solar empire: rebellion actually. Star Trek Armada 3 mod looks awesome. That's going to be released sometime later this year. Also, Sacrifice of Angels 2 mod just got a new release for Sins diplomacy and they're working on the rebellion version.

By the way, what mods were you looking at?

By Riker's beard, I have finally made it to tier 4 rommie rep!!!! It should now take me approximately 14 days (assuming 2,800 exp per day) to finish the remaining 40K rep, meaning I should finish around June 3rd. If I do finish on the 3rd, I will have amassed 68,000 rommie rep in 29 days which is no easy feat. Give me strength to climb the rest of Mt. Grinderest!!!

Despite my best efforts, I will fail to get my Klink to tier 5 Romulan rep in time for launch... I'll be a day late!
Curse you, 20 hour cool-down, and curse me for being a dumb*ss and trying to fly around to buy commodities at their cheapest instead of just biting the bullet and replicating them for a few more measly EC.
Still, one day late means I can get on after the first day of server crash madness.

Bring on the Lagacy of Romulus!

I joke, honestly, I hope it goes smooth :D

I have both my Klingon toons maxed on the reputation tree. It took me about a couple months on the primary and about 2 weeks longer on the secondary. Now understand that my primary is also maxed after a year and a month or so on the doff trees. I joined the day when STO went to FTP. I focused on running the doffs needed to do the rep trees and the doff trees along with running the stf's required to do so.

Whereas my team mate loves to focus on accolades he has been onboard since beta, oh I guess three years or more now, He is a career/lifer and has purchased the full rommie pack and since he has focused on the accolades he is just finishing his doff tree and also the Rep trees on his secondary now and has not done so on his third Klingon Toon. I said all this to say it depends upon your focus accolades or Doffs. If you focus on the required doffs and STF missions you will complete it quickly, but if you are an accolade hog then it will take longer.

It really takes focus on what your goal is, Doff and stfs gain you plenty of energy credits and dilithium along with the Omega marks. The Romulan marks requires doing the Romulan missions and a lot of running around New Romulus. I would suggest when you are able to do so, get two or three purple Farengi traders on your crew. Your rewards on trading doffs will be higher with successful or better completions.

I wish you good fortune and good hunting.
