Showing the top 3 players score and your score for Starbase 24 and other similar missions that give very rare gear for getting 1st place is something I would like. It would let me know how well I am doing in my quest for 1st place.
It can give you a rough idea how players are doing but STFs require more cooperation and timing than DPS
Not really. 5 super-DPS builds can roll an STF in 5 minutes. If you are doing 8k+DPS in space cooperation and timing are not needed, just kill whatever is in front of you. Do it quickly enough and nothing else matters.
Not that everyone has a super-DPS build, but it would be nice to see if people in the team are severely lacking.. perhaps seeing some numbers would let those folks know there is MASSIVE room for improvement.

Generally, from my experience, these are the people who don't care. These are the people who will not get better. Showing them numbers will do nothing for those who need help the most, and stroke the egos of the people who need it the least.

I would like some kind of ranking tied to final mission rewards, if only to discourage AFKers, but I don't think there's any easy way to do it.
In KASE, for example, if a guy is on the probes, he'll do FAR less damage than the people killing the transformers or gate, but his job is just as important, if not more so in some cases. How do you rate that? No idea. There are lots of different ways to do the tracking, but no ONE way that will take into account everything that can happen in one, at least not yet.
I know there is a method but all I see is madness.
These Scoreboard are needed as most players will not download a data logger.
This means they have no idea how poor thier build and class ship combo is.
Cryptic are not keen on the idea as it shows the huge gulf in effectiveness between different ship types and classes which would have people crying for a balance change.
The most effective way for any class to do an STF (or any pve bar a trick build for the entity and unwinnable) is in an escort
The most effective combination is a good Tac Escort build which often does about double the damage of any other combination.
The cap between the good and the bad in an STF can be a factor of 10x.
 A balance pass is badly need as for 99% of the PvE space game an Escort is the best choice for all classes and a Tac Escort is the best combo.
Any kind of reward ranking would kill all teamwork in STFs, just as it has in the fleet actions.
Oh, I agree, that's what I mean, there's no cut and dry method for it. Killing probes is just as important as killing the gates, but how do you balance the numbers of that? Straight up DPS doesn't work. Kill counts don't work. There's NO easy way without someone physically watching the entire thing.
I'd love for it to exist, but I have no idea HOW to do it. And I suspect Cryptic doesn't either, which is why nothing has been done so far.

I was in my third or fourth HOSE pug (having done the non-Elite version a couple dozen times), and two players were discussing their builds during the battle. One of them was proud of her beam build, and the other pointed out that "the klink [me] actually is running the highest DPS here". I don't think there's any way he could have gotten that visually, so I assume it was from watching a logging app?
Anyway, I'd love to be able to do that myself. For HOSE in particular, DPS pretty much is generic, and knowing that I'm averaging 3k, 4k, 5k or whatever would be helpful in knowing how far I can still go with my torp-boat build. (Plus I'm an aggro-ducking sci, so I usually can toss a couple unused hull-heals to the folks absorbing abuse on my behalf.)

5 super-dps builds can do a stf in 2.5 minutes, dps-5000 will prove it to you.

Not that I totally want to dismiss your suggestion, just saying that those numbers may give many players a false sense of smugness and bad focus
