can starbase 24 mission ever be completed?

No matter how many federation starships are playing in the starbase 24 mission, there seems to be no completion on fighting the borg, I get annihilated every time I intercept a borg cube or sphere, even when 4 starships are helping, me and 2 others get wiped out, when 3 other cubes join in, soo, basically, an entire fleet of about 100 or so starships would be needed to complete this mission.

Huh? Starbase 24 is against Klingons. It can potentially be done alone by sticking to the outskirts and drawing small groups out one at a time.

What you're describing sounds more like a Red Alert. Those normalize levels up to 40, but level matching still leaves lower level ships badly underpowered, so if you're not at least in a tier 5 ship you'll be in for a rough time. A level capped group should have little trouble clearing groups though, spheres are no match for any tier 5 ship, and the cubes are tough but manageable one on one, five on one they get shredded. The command ship can be a challenge for an unprepared group, but still doesn't require even close to 100 ships.

Ok, I managed to get to the mission starbase 24, I left it for a day, and when I came back and auto pilot to Starbase 24 from sector space, I joined the queue, but, no way can this mission be finished, as soon as it showed the Klingons had been slowed down, and my panel showed 50 had been defeated, and I was ready to warp out of the sector, I was suddenly surrounded by mega loads of Klingons as if the game reset, and I was wiped out, I counted being respawned 10 times, and each respawn I had to start again, 50 Klingons, then get wiped out again as the game resets and I get stuck in the middle of tons of Klingon bird of prey ships, to which is a losing battle, thus when I respawned again, I warped out the sector and dropped the mission, and trying something else.

Starbase 24 is basically an Energy Credit farming mission. You will eventually complete the mission, if you stick it out. You will also die a lot. Don;t let it bother, just respawn, fly back in, blow a few things up, die ... repeat.

The person who does the most overall damage gets the best reward, second most gets the second best reward etc.

I regularly win the 1st place rewards, and by necessity die endlessly doing it, since I have all the aggro.

IN summary, this mission is competitive between players rather than co-operative.

(as far as warping in to find the count already at xx/50, it happens all the time because the Que starts the mission without being sure all the spots are filled. It's darn near impossible to WIN the best rewards if you get in late, but that's just the breaks on that part sadly)((hint, if you que for it and the que pops immediately, you are probably about to be placed in a mission in progress. best to not accept that que and reset and wait for a fresh one if you actually want to win))

Are we talking about the same Starbase 24 here?
It's so freaking easy it's sad. I go in Scatter Volley Cannons blazing and everything just dies.
The only challenge seams to be zipping around fast enough to get the kills before anyone else kills everything.

The OP likely isn't level 50. Those Negh'vars are pretty deadly in the earlier level bands and players aren't geared to 11 like most vice admirals.

OP: The getting surrounded bit happens a lot. Fleet actions have multiple objectives, just like a solo mission but on a larger scale. SB24 has both objectives in the same area, so the first one tends to draw you right into the ambush when objective 2 spawns. A lot of people die at that point.

Dying is not penalized (except that you're not gaining score while dead), and the injury system isn't enabled on fleet actions, so your fine. As people respawn, they'll be engaging at the edge of the Klingon fleet where they won't get surrounded. Stay with the group and let the Klingons come to you and you won't get overwhelmed.

This is the kind of thread I'd expect to see on Crystalline Entity. If it was still available that is.

SB24 isn't even hard, at worst you'll die a lot. Just stay at it and eventually it will be over.

This is actually not true. The scoring system is apparently a bit convoluted, but dmg is not the only factor considered.

If you survive until it's time to leave, I call that a win. If I'm in my Miranda, I just take out as many Birds and V'orcha's (sp.) as I can until the timer starts counting down, take my rewards, and bug out. I come back whenever I need some free dilithium.
    His methods have become unsound.

fu'what?? Captain you are ordered to return to Starfleet Academy where you will undergo a rigorous and humiliating reeducation process until we are confident that you know what the hell a Klingon looks like and want a Borg looks like. This process may even involve you being purposely assimilated by the Borg so your utter confusion will infect them and through the entire collective into a state of pure chaos. We thank you for your Sacrifice for the good of the Federation.

Sorry couldn't help it. In all seriousness are you sure you're thinking of the Starbase 24 event because there aren't any Borg there. Anyways SB 24 is easy as hell, go it guns blazing and do as much damage as you can before you die, rinse and repeat. Hell you can go in with a shuttle and still rank top 3 if you play it right.

late response, but whatever.... Starbase 24 teaches you how to do STF's as a team. You go solo into tons of Klingons, then your burning hull is your lesson for the day. Fly with the team that you're with.

SB24 does NOT teach you how to do STF teamwork, because SB24 is the opposite of teamwork. You want to be as much of a selfish, obstructive TRIBBLE as you can, because everything you do to help anyone else hurts you. This is the exact opposite of STFs. If STFs were SB24, you'd want to run off to the opposite side and blow a generator, then run back and TBR the spheres to the transformer before scattering them everywhere. And never, ever, heal anyone or debuff an enemy for your team.

I using the maneuver from rescuing the captain:

First of all I warp in without firing. I use pink stealth shields. and of course gun it[max speed],if the tractor tries to grab and cut me up, directly up against the cube. Firing some type of energy draining blue beam to give me 8-15 seconds power drain in the cube. I simulate 3 other ships with holograms and the 4 of us let lose with everything I have.

    I stay up against the cube, on purpose to hide from its beams and if drop below 25% shields;
I blow up the warp core on purpose taking down the shields on one side of the super cube.

Usually it takes only once and then I can fly by at high warp , after respawn and blow up the cube myself, no matter how many people have been pounding on it.

I'm often teased for my little ship. I fly the Uss Enterprise Ncc - 1701D. w/ 360 auto targeting photons. I use the gun to guide my steering in battle.

Time to go play NO-WIN senerio again.
all we have to do is take a hostage, damage it enough so it can not hurt the transport
faster than we can fix it. Enemy not destroyed , game doesn't end.
