Why are the embassy kits so limited?

tilartatilarta Member Posts: 1,801 Arc User
According to the info, the Embassy Mk12 kits are limited to one type per class.

Which is good news for you if you like that one kind of kit, but bad news for everyone else who prefers other kinds of kit.

For example, I only use Close Combat kits and was quite disappointed to discover I could not obtain a MK12 version via the Embassy vendor.

And when I discovered that bitter fact, I completely lost interest in the Embassy kits.

If Cryptic put everything in the first fleet holding, there'd be nothing for them to upgrade for subsequent ones.

They've already said another fleet holding will be added, possibly in the next season after LoR (so, closer to the end of the year). Presumably that'll add another set of kits and another type of special consoles.

the close combat kit does indeed rule, and i was dismayed by its absence as well.

Heh, well considering a kit revamp is coming that lets you slot what you want, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As an engineer you basically get a fabrication heal to your regular abilities, nothing over the top.

Probably the best thing in there is the romulan turret that shoots plasma.

Which would be nice if I was actually an Engineer.

Since I am not, I don't get to use that kit.

And for the record, I only have Tactical Officers.

In addition, I don't like the Engineer class, so won't ever be rolling one.

Yeah, I like the Engineer one, the Tactical is ok, and the Science one sucks. If there were other factions giving alternate Mk XIIs I could see the Roms only having what they have. But there isn't.

Yeah, always found it funny that I could customize my Boffs' kits but not my own.

Exactly. Of all the Science kits to pick, they had to choose the one you couldn't pay anyone Zen to use.

I like how the science kit is garbage. Makes playing my ground sci a bit less hairbrained. I've basically run out of places to put my keybinds for my tac who uses the romulan fire team kit, so I had to use F3 of all keys to bind motion accelerator.

If they ever come out with a good science kit with a fifth ability on it, I'm going to be completely screwed with healing ground PvP, as F2-F5 are my team-targeting keys, and I literally have nothing else I could use unless I get into awkward modifier keys.

Granted, I'd prefer something else on my engineer. Putting down toys is fun, but situational. If my enemy chooses a different part of the map to fight on, or keeps the fight on the run, it's useless to me.

Much like how the Embassy grants us specialized Science consoles, but not Tactical or Engineering, I expect the other Kit variants to appear in later Fleet Holdings. The next holding might offer Ultra Rare engineering or tactical consoles, plus another kit for each class.
