JUst something i have noticed.
When out on different missions,it seems romulans are addressing others as either Fed or Klingon.(the ones you are allied to).
As an example,i have a romulan toon allied to the Feds, and it is treated as a Fed,despite not being in a Fed fleet, but a romulan one.
Now that is a big mistake in this game, and if ever possible,i would like to see that re-written.
Romulans should be addressed as just that, and not who they are allied to.

I completely agree with this. This one of the things that is making the ally system a Failure. For example go to ESD and the only person that makes you feel like you are Romulan is the Traffic controller. Even when you beam to ESD the chief just let you go about your business without know dialog pop up to welcome you simple nothing. Than walk into the admiral office and see he Treats you like a fed officer which is totally wrong. For a new player they are going to say what is this, because it breaks everything about the story. Even the diplomatic Ambassador Jiro Sugihara doesn't even remember talking to you.
But that not all, it happens every outpost, star bases and planet that belong to the federation which you go to.
I think for those that what to play ally faction storyline with their Romulan character they should have a Romulan officer give as those mission instead of the fed officer. The reason I said this it will be more Practical that way because the Romulan officer can remind you why you should take this mission and the reason for Romulan republic ally to what faction you choose.
So the wording could be like this.
Our federation ally have requested you to uptake a mission.... Something along that lines.
"You ask why we give our ships computer normal emotions. Do you really want a warship incapable of loyalty?"
I just feels like we are being assimilated into the faction we ally with.
I do not like it at all.
If there is an alliance system (which I don't like to start with), please let the Romulans at least keep a bit of their racial dignity.

I guess I am not surprised. It is obvious that they couldn't pull off a full faction and tried to re-use existing content as much as possible.
Everything that has been said about this expansions makes me think that we could have LoR with
1. Playable Rom ships / toons for either faction
2. FE and/or Foundry episodes
The GUI thing is totally superflous. This is turning into a huge disappointment.

personally, I will NEVER visit ESD or FC.
I hope there is nothing that forces us to have to. (ie Q events)
Once I was FORCED to make a choice, I just simply forget that that event even happened.
The longer I play the Beta, the more I actually wonder what purpose the silly ally mechanic actually serves.
Seems like the problems it solves - and by problems I mean the devs having to program something - could easily have been dealt with a few other ways and the ally mechanic isnt actually need.
I doubt you will get a better one. This all flows from their decision to NOT make Roms a full faction.

Well I wouldn't go there personally but was checking things out that new players might do. Plus I couldn't craft at new Romulan so I had to go to Memory Alpha, and guess what it's still the samething. Everyone there thinks am With starfleet fun how a warbird show up at their door and all the can see is my character is not a Romulan but a Vulcan in service of starfleet.

At the very least there should be consoles we can hack to steal info. Fed strategic plans in Admiral Quinns office. Klingon troop movements. Intelligence we can send back to Rator.
Sabotage would also be nice. Mess with repair parts in the shipyards. Reroute important communications.

Amen! It seems like the only two issues with LOR that really get me upset both relate to the devs FORCING us to go things that completely destroy the role play experience for some of us:
1) Forcing us to ally with either the FED or KDF.
2) Forcing us to make Tovan part of our bridge crew and not giving us the option to refuse him or get rid of him immediately after he joins the crew.
I really want to role play as a Reman commander with a 100 percent Reman bridge crew dedicated to rebuilding the Romulan Star Empire with the Remans as equal (or maybe even superior) partners.
Both of the mandatory story elements (the ally system and Tovan) ruin the role play experience for me. None of my FED or KDF toons have these problems ... because Cryptic isn't forcing FED or KDF players to follow a story that we wouldn't choose.
I really hope the devs figure out a way to allow players to refuse to ally with the FED or KDF and allow us to refuse Tovan.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
Just curious but as someone with no beta invite, how do you get addressed as a member of the Federation?
I don't remember that clearly on my Fed toon except in "grant mission" dialogues and in the Dominion Featured Episode series. And I don't think those are intended to be open to Romulans yet.
If you post specific examples, they can be fixed.
If it's just, "Welcome to the starbase, how can I help you?" then that's probably something they'd say to ANYONE.
I don't remember which mission it was, but it was right after I had chosen Kling/Rom.
I hail the enemy ship and during the dialogue he refers to me as a Klingon.
This also seemed odd to me.
I know we have to choose a side for PVP sake, but it seems that for RP sake we could at least have Romulan dialogue given to us....
How about we give them time to finish installing everything before we start with the crying and complaing? Considering this is the BETA TEST on a TEST server we're talking about, and not the finished product.
If it still does that on launch day, then be my guest and let the devs have it.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!
(paraphrased from "The Newsroom)
this doesn't seem to be "feedback", this seems to be "b*tching and moaning".

I haven't been to anywhere outside of "romulan" territory in any of my play throughs yet, and I don't remember any incidences of being referred to as my allied factions, faction moniker, but... I do agree that that is kind of a problem for a charater that's suppsoed to be from a different faction, even if by the technicalities it's not a Competely seperate faction. I would definitely like to see dialogue changed, added, or written to acknowledge me as a Romulan First, and an ally of X side second.

Although, it's quite possible to play through the Romulan content currently on Tribble and have almost 0 interaction with your ally.
However, when it comes to the fleet system and the PVE/PVP queues you are rudely reminded that you are a member of one of the other 2 factions.
