No one can create a Klingon character right now and Romulans are by invite-only. The Invites were based on people who have given lots of feedback and bug reports on big Tribble updates in the past. We have been told it had nothing to do with silver/gold status.
Personally I thought the words "Closed Beta" were clear enough.
Next time they should call it something like "Time when some people can make Romulans BUT NOT EVERYONE. If you can't make one then you weren't chosen. Stop asking. No, stop it. Stop. Shut up and go away."
Closed Beta? *sits in awe, watching all the Romulan ships at Starbase come and go* Closed Beta?... IMHO, it would have been smarter to make the Red Shirt server for Closed Beta? instead of torturing the regular test sever community.
Okay, okay "CLOSED BETA?" ohhh ahhh. Still doesn't explain not being able to create a Klingon, or if even I can import mine from the real side.
what part of CLOSED beta do you not understand? CLOSED MEANS CLOSED. means that it doesn't matter how special you are, or how much money you put into the game, you don't get in unless your chosen.
The only problem is your lack of comprehension to understanding what closed means. If you weren't active on tribble, you didn't get picked.
...Just wait until the OPEN beta in a couple weeks.
It would be NICE to see it NOW not be teased with it in the Tribble TEST server... It is NOT like we can transfer the characters into the regular server!
Feels like a typical "bait and switch" lie to me.
Just want to play it to see some of the cool stuff.
I do like the new User Interface (UI) look and feel however.

Start playing/testing on tribble and perhaps by the next content update you'll be invited to that beta. I have no idea what you mean by "bait and switch" in this instance.
For the record, I believe people were chosen based on the fact whether or not they actually tested on tribble to test the Romulans. I'm a silver player and have tested seasons 6 and 7, and I was one of those lucky closed beta testers. Just wait a little longer and open beta should happen soon.

Yeah, because lying to people and tell them there will be an open beta serve probably some goal I can't see.
There will be an open beta.
And if there are no open beta, you'll get over it. The character you'll make on tribble will not make it to holodeck anyway, and you'll have to restart from scratch.
Also, LOR is free. You are not considering if you'll buy it or not. Except maybe for the legacy pack, and they speack for themselves.
They are currently doing a closed beta so we can test it. To give our opinion, and find bugs. The preview is a cool side effect, that's all.
Anyone know when or if we'll be able to create romulans during the open beta weekend?
As was stated in the blog, when the new Patch goes in, then Open Beta will start. So keep your eyes on the Tribble Announcement thread for when that Patch is going in.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Copied my current Federation Level 50 Tactical officer to the Tribble Server.
However it will not let me create a Romulan or Klingon Character.
Just wanted to look at the Romulan stuff before it comes out around May 21st, 2013.
Is this because I am a player that is playing "Free"?
Sorry that I cannot pay to play at this time due to things that don't need to be talked about here.
I do however LIKE the upcoming new color schemes and the new modifications to the Star Trek Online Interface.
Thanks,
BillNew
The Open Beta Weekend has yet to start. The current build on Test Server Tribble needs to be revamped in order for this to happen, so patience, sir. You *will* be able to get your eyes on the new content in very short order.
Like you, I'm a 'Silver' (read non-subscribing player, although I buy, and use zen rather frequently, so I *am* supporting the game financially, fwiw.) I have been playing test on Tribble for about a week or two, now, and in all that time neither the new KDF or the Romulan stuff was available to me. It will be this weekend, I'm sure...
Actually, no. Bait-and-switch would imply that they promised you one thing, and then delivered something else. There was never any such promise made regarding the closed beta.
Needless to say...open beta starts very soon. Enjoy!

Creating Klingon characters on Tribble is currently closed to all players.
Has nothing to do with being a free player or not.
In a couple of weeks they will have open beta, and you should be able to do both at that time.
