Been awhile since I've been on this subject but...
The Galor is clearly the "least special" of the lockbox ships.
The Galor on the shows used a pulse weapon. (Represented in game as cannons.)
The Galor on the shows was most often identified as a Destroyer. Destroyers in game have cannons.
The Galor's tech specs from the DS9 production crew refer to it using spiral wave disruptors, both beams and a spiral wave disruptor cannon.
The Galor has among the lowest hull of any cruiser and is in the ballpark of Destroyers and heavier escorts.
The argument against as I see it would mainly come from stacking it against the Fleet Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. They're very similar otherwise. One might argue that the cannons would imbalance it.
However, the FAHCR has one more Tac console and one less Eng console and 5k more hull than the Galor. The Galor's one more Eng slot is one it's less equipped to use because of its lower initial hull. It has two more turnrate.
But that two extra turnrate lends itself more to stacking RCS consoles with the RCS changes in Legacy of Romulus whereas it will get less return on hull consoles.
There might be an argument as well to bring the shield mod down from 1.3 to 1.1 to match but shield tanking without a solid hull seems oddly dicey at best.
I think once LoR is out the door every ship - free, C-Store, Lockbox, and Fleet - needs a once-over to re-align them better against each other and into canon. It's never going to happen, but I'd love to see it done.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
the Galor really needs a little love to bring it up to stuff.
even if it is only via adding the rest of the weapon types as Spiral Wave Disruptors.
(i like the color, but i really have no use for beam arrays on that ship -> Dual Beam Bank, cannons + turrets plz)
i also want to see it spit out photons like the Armitage does. (currently 3 photon tubes slotted in front, sux in PvP but nice for STFs and got #1 in Crystaline Entity every time).
but i don't expect anything to happen here before we have another Cardassian LockBox...
Keldon and Hi'Deki are kinda obviously missing from the line of Ships.
Want some Cardi Outfits, Hideki as Shuttle would be neat and a Keldon is really just a few extra pieces for the Galor... make it a Lobi Store visual only Upgrade if you have a Galor for all i care...
After using the negh'var with dhc's, I simply cannot bring myself to using any type of cruiser with beams. I tried beams on both the negh and bort and felt like I was slapping things with a wet paper bag in comparison.
So I would fully support this change. I loved the galor when I watched tng and ds9 and this change would deffo make me want to get one

Hell No. don't change a damn thing about the Galor. I paid 20 mil for that thing when it came out. I want 2 more of them for my KDF main and my Romulan main. That ship is perfect. Sometimes Levi I think you get to into yourself with the Canon argument. The only thing that your argument that I find valid is that it should have Spiral Wave Disruptor Cannons/Turrets.
The Galor on the shows used a pulse weapon. (Represented in game as cannons.)
Only in the 1st episode it was shown to have some kind of pulse weapon, and it was never seen with such weapons again; only beams. It is possible that it was some kind of torpedo in that episode.
The Galor like all cruisers can already carry single cannons, and that is sufficient.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug.
It probably has access to single cannons already. Wouldn't that already be enough to fulfill the thematic flavor you were looking for?
It still wouldn't make it anything other than the least special of the lockbox ships.
The best alternative I can think of to pure cannons would be to simply add Spiral Wave DHC as a unique equip per ship special item.
I was looking at my lockbox ships on Tribble as I tested out the improved textures.
The Temporal Destroyer has 5k less hull, +5 turnrate, -0.25 shield mod, 1 less aft weapon, much better damage console (4/2/4 instead of 3/4/3). But the big thing is, it has so many unique consoles and tricks. The Galor is similarly less special if you compare it to the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier, the Chimera, etc.
Heck, compare it to the Mirror Vor'cha. Same basic BO layout. Vor'cha has twice the crew, 1 less sci console, 1.5k less hull, -10 Shield power, +10 Weapon power. And a cloak. And can use DHCs. And is a tier below.
Imagine they did a fleet tier Mirror Vor'cha. This is the perfect comparison point.
It would have hull of 39,600. (1,100 more than the Galor.)
Probably a 3/4/3 console layout. (Like the Galor.)
Same BO layout for all intents and purposes.
A 1.1 shield mod. (Still down from the Galor's 1.3.)
And have cannons and cloak.
So in this case, the 0.2 shield mod the Galor gets is apparently worth:
1.1k hull.
The ability to equip cannons.
Cloaking Device.
Would you trade 0.2 shield mod for 1.1k hull, cannons, and cloak?
Because from that POV, the Galor is basically a fleet tier Mirror Vor'cha with less hull, less crew, no cannons, and no cloak and a 0.2 higher shield mod. I could see maybe the 0.2 extra shield mod being worth the cloak and crew but the lower hull and lack of cannons seem to make the deal a bad one.
And while the beams on the Galor or nice, I can get even better results putting those beams on another ship.
Only in the 1st episode it was shown to have some kind of pulse weapon, and it was never seen with such weapons again; only beams. It is possible that it was some kind of torpedo in that episode.
The Galor like all cruisers can already carry single cannons, and that is sufficient.
I think it's misclassified as a cruiser but especially, as I pointed out after you posted, well:
Look at the Rear Admiral Vor'cha. Look at the Vice Admiral Fleet Vor'cha.
Now look at the Mirror Vor'cha which is near identical to the Galor but taken down a tier, with cannons and cloak. If they upgraded the Mirror Vor'cha to Fleet Tier, it would be, flat out, a superior Galor with cannons and cloak and higher crew and higher hull in exchange for just 0.2 shield mod.
The Galor is the one lockbox ship that would not stand up in comparison against a fleet upgrade of a near identical non-lockbox grand prize ship.
I got mine for free, and would love it if I could actually use it. Its current take on hy8rid Cruiser/Escort is not good enough. The turning is nice, 8ut the damage isn't there, all I can rely on is are the shields, 8ut what is surviva8ility without doing enough damage?
I don't really care for the cannon as so much as I'd much rather have a Spiral wave dual beam bank. The ship has a cool animation that dual beam banks appear as a single large beam from the forward grid (like from the show). It still grinds my gears that the special weapon that the Cardassians use doesn't have the variant necessary (dual beam bank) to use the ships special animation.
I have seen Galors melt ship after ship with anti-proton. They seem to be OP when properly configured
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
the Galor really needs a little love to bring it up to stuff.

I have to agree - I didn't even get it for the ship. I think I've flown it maybe once.. I got it for the spirals and I stuck 'em on a D'Kora - sadly it is much more worthy of them. I can't put my finger on it either.. while the hull is definitely lacking in the cruiser dept, that aside with good healing abilities the Galor just doesn't seem much better than a sovvy or any other vanilla cruiser.
I think it's fine to be honest. Stick an aux to bat build and it's almost OP a few guys use it for pvp in my fleet and he's almost indestructible. Perhaps just change the spiral beams to be heavy hitting like DBB and just narrow the firing arc.

The shield mod is completely op, 20% more shields for 3% hull drop, which is a cruiser who can stack hull resists like mad anyway? Which affords you using the borg sets for crazy hull and shield regen?
It has the most aggressive tactical cruiser layout there is, the oddy can do well but a boat is a boat, this thing can move at least.
Optimal eng layout, sci is a bit rough but its not a necessity, tac is great.
There is a reason its the most expensive cruiser lockbox ship out there
Its also the least special because it gets access to the unique spiral beams? please

Actually they were identified as, cruisers, destroyers and another type of classification on the shows (cant think of the top of my head atm), both tng and DS9 made mention of it. the reclassification was due to the strength of the galor vs other ship technologies.
Yes, in addition to an extra warp core and a possible backup impulse system. their specs read as warp 9.6 being observed even though the galors havent seen ventured beyond warp 8 on the shows.
again, cardassian galor ships are basically out of time with technology, its way out of its league with the galaxy class, probably on par with the Excelsior though.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
My point stands, the Fleet Vor'cha is noticeably better. And if you look at the MU Vor'cha, a Fleet Mirror Vor'cha would be straight up, everything the Galor is with more hull, more crew, cannons, and cloak.
I love my galor, have no problems with it. Deals enough damage, absorbs enough punishment, etc.. I think I never left a 5km radius on the CE since the event has been live.. and haven't died once in it. or in any fleet actions too.. could usually charge into a group of enemies and stay alive long enough to pop em all... while staying about 70% hull.
No elite fleet stuff here!
Of course I don't bother even looking at any PvP crud.
Would be weird to have cannons on it IMO.

Your Javelin deals 125417 (89066) Disruptor Damage(Critical) to Tholian Recluse. > lol
How is best cruiser turn rate, best shield mod inferior? It outclasses every fed cruiser by a large margin, it may lack some punch of a select couple of KDF cruisers, but that is it. I'd have bought it for my eng if it wasn't an extra 60-70m over the D'kora at the time
We need Spiral Wave versions of all the other weapon types... especially since the Andorian ship gets them (even found an Andorian Phaser Quad cannon sitting in the game files...) I'd fly my galor so much more if it had access to all the other weapon types.

It definitely needs a Spiral Wave Dual Beam Bank. I WANT MY SUPERPOWERED BEAM SHOOTING FROM MY SUPERPOWERED EMITTER! *doesn't care about the fact that he doesn't HAVE a Galor*
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Before we go asking for all of this stuff why don't we see how LoR, Cardassians might very well be the next faction we see and threads definitely support that.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
I have to agree with the OP has the Galor just did not stand out enough to me to even unpack the 3 I was lucky enough to find when that Lock Box came out.
With the way the Galor is built it screams to use DHC's and if it had the ability to do so I would have used the ones that I had instead of selling or trading them away.
My point stands, the Fleet Vor'cha is noticeably better. And if you look at the MU Vor'cha, a Fleet Mirror Vor'cha would be straight up, everything the Galor is with more hull, more crew, cannons, and cloak.
lol -- well.. that's being a wee bit unfair - the fleet Vor'Cha is one of if not the most well-designed cruiser in the game [only falling behind the D'Kora in my personal taste]
Arguments from feeling special don't really appeal to me. Largely because a childhood eating paint chips has always left me feeling very special indeed.
The question is whether the Galor, in its current form, is balanced in comparison to other tactically oriented cruisers of the 10-console tier? (Yes purists, acknowledge that there are two tiers of tier-5) It seems on par with the Fleet Assault Cruiser, and I'm not familiar enough what the D'Kora's battle mode to pass judgement there, but its overall weaker stats would seem to balance cannons+abilities on paper.
If anything, the Fleet Tor'Kaht appears to be the outlier. It seems to have the best of every world for pure damage and the weakest survivability of the tactical cruisers, if it turns out it got too much dps for the survivability it lost then that one ship might need to be nerfed.

No way, Jose. Cryptic better not touch the Tor'kaht. It's effectively the first actual KDF ship that can truly UTILIZE those 'OP' DHCs that Feddies love to whine about regularly. That's because it got a LTC tactical station. Any Tor'kaht pilot with an ounce of sense will use the LT universal for engineering or science (most likely science).
The Tor'kaht is fine as it is. It doesn't need a nerf. If the Tor'kaht needs a nerf, then so do ships like the Armitage (which combines the benefits of carriers with a tanky escort), the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier, and so on.
