"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

If you delete a Tribble character and then copy another one over, you can get maybe two maps out of them. Then they become inaccessible thanks to the constant crashes upon login.

Not exactly the same issue - mine keeps crashing trying to apply the patch/update from 4/29/13. Started it then, it got to 62%, stalled out, then crashed. Tried to restart a couple of times to no avail, so restarted it yesterday a.m. By evening it had reached 20% (after the restart - and my comp is fast; don't get it...), so I left it overnight...to find out the client had crashed sometime early this a.m.!
Restarted, and am still trying to patch it now - it's at a whopping 22%, which, I grant you, is faster than yesterday - but TWO DAYS to apply the patch??!! Come on!
Never had this problem before - maybe you guys should look into fully separate/unlinked systems for each of your games? I mean, if the Beta of Neverwinter is doing this and is really what's responsible for bogging everyone down, I seriously CANNOT imagine the horrors that will hit when you all release LoR! Well. maybe I can...
Fleet Commander
Caprica's Revenge (...actually active since November 2010, which may one day be important to archaeologists, but not to anyone else...)

Sounds like you're having it worse then us on this issue. At least we're able to reach the character selection screen before we're booted.
I just tested it again. It boots me and the same error message pops up.

Yeah i'm also able to reach the character selection screen but when I select a character it crashes. I really hope the dev team will look into this cause it's making tribble pretty much unplayable
im having pretty much the same issue, whenever i was flying a character to ds9, suddenly crashes, and i crash every time i try to get on...
im using a wineskin on mac:( please tell me this gets fixed before launch....
Just so everyone knows, the Admin are aware of it. It happens to a fair mount of people and that means there is enough people who have this problem to resolve it quickly. Hang tight and spend some time with your Holodeck characters. They've missed you.

Same thing is happening to my Fed character. My KDF is strangely unaffected.
I think it's the current bug in the Sol System that's causing it. Hopefully that'll get fixed soon.

It's happening everytime I get on my rom/fed aligned toon.
Crash occurred the moment I was close enough to Bajor to receive the pop-up for entering the Bajor System.
Hope that helps.

Does anyone know why this is going on anyway?

No idea...
I just tested it again, same result. And I agree, this is aggravating.
So do I. At least before it goes live in three weeks. I'd hate this problem to follow in the live server thus making this game completely unplayable.

Ok I played it a bit. Turns out they did fix it in the next patch. GO CRYPTIC for being on your game.
