It's nicer looking than the old STO UI and does deliver on being more LCARish, but no offense to Thomas the Cat, it's just a new paintjob. There has been no real changes with the new UI except the ability to change to a color scheme you are comfortable with. Outside of that, it's exactly the same as the old UI.

Best to my knowledge, there has been no changes that players been requesting for years like the Power Tray Buttons being color coded. Changes that's more comfortable for handicaped players. Or changes to the DOFFing Window, Accolade Page, or even the Replicator Page.

My appologizes for the harsh criticism, but I was expecting more than just a facelift.

No offense to Thomas the Cat, but a facelift is apparently all we are getting. The major UI issue under the hood (high amount of CPU usage), has yet to be remedied from my testing on Tribble. No amount of reskinning the UI will solve this issue, the UI programmers need to get in there and fix some of the performance and usability issues.

the UI (the one on tribble) is using less memory ,has less bloom and AA ...that means is less heavy for your system than the one on holodeck ,but yes it could be better and Im pretty sure they are still working on it .

Yes, it does look like LCARS.

    Link: Google Search: LCARS

"Star Trek: Online's" current UI does not look like LCARS, for it was designed with the use of gradients. Many of the buttons are also too close together. As a result of using gradients, while also grouping them close together, the current UI is very reflective of tabled based website menus. "Legacy of Romulus" brings us up back to the original "Star Trek" design elements, which we have seen in films and television. Very nicely done.

I have to admit, the pictures they show on the posts don't do the new UI justice. After playing around with it on tribble it is sooooooo much better than the old one. Finally has that LCARS feel. I also love the changes to the interactions that you don't really see mentioned.

    What's that?

Conversation windows: NPC faces are now much larger, you can see good detail on them and they have appropriate borders or backgrounds. If you are in space, they appear on your view screen. In space dock? They appear with the appropriate background behind them!

Ship selector: You can move your ship around in their information screen to look at them, fancy that. They are also much larger finally

Ship detail/customizer: The ships are bigger and set a bit lower.

There's a lot more changes with this UI that just have several other Quality of life improvements build in aside from the sleeker LCARS look and the Less memory usage that people aren't bringing up. Thank you for the improvements!
