So after testing the changes I really like how the drive builds power while in combat even without firing weapons. I plan on putting a rom sci in a fleet mogai and not having to be always facing them as I charge the core is nice (I.e. not focusing on keep the majority of my weapon arcs on the target).
I would like to address subsystem targeting and sensor analysis. These should have been traits that go with the toon not the ship, and this is more pertinent then ever with the rom ships.
I don't mind flying a fleet mogai at end game with only a lt cmdr sci slot- the singularity powers make up for the loss of my grav well 3. But cannons should be able to target subsystems and sci toons should be able to utilize their ships systems to do this regardless of what ship they're on. This should be a trait of the sci class. All ships have sensors, but only those that are learned in such things should be able make use of them (Hence picking a sci as ones toon).
Also where is the TNG romulan sci ship? The scout ship? I would like to see futuristic versions of these vessels, with battle cloak and a cool console (maybe a tachyon shockwave, or a subspace isolytic weapon like the Sona used).
This isn't a ***** post- my feedback for what you've done so far is that you're a great job, I just have a lot ideas for the polish of the Rom faction.
Also (spoiler) I saw the Suliban in the alien generator, and in the story arc. Can they please be a playable faction in the Republic? They make an obvious choice in allies, and their genetic enhancements would make a neat playable feature. I posted a few months ago about a 'ship' that is actually small attack wing of ships kinda of like a permanent separated Prometheus. You could have a squad of cell ships as the vessel.
Anyway, just ideas, refer to my other posts for my thoughts on the rest of the expansion. Thanks again for the beta invite and opportunity to assist.
Since this thread is about feedback on the singularity drive....
I noticed when I was "upgrading" ships as I hit lvl 10 that there is no "popup comparison" for the currently installed singularity drive versus the one chosen in inventory.
All the other components seem to have this, so not sure if this is a bug, or if it is just not a feature that has been implemented yet (like Rom. loading screens).
Otherwise really enjoying everything, and can't wait to test out my new ride!
