The boss here "Mysterious Ship" is quite difficult, I died many times with my puny T'Liss trying to kill it. I think it's "Too hard" (And what's up with the Subspace Jump / mini-Donatra Charge?)
I found this encounter fairly easy, though more challenging than everything else I'd faced up to this point. I was pleased to finally encounter an enemy that didn't die without even scratching me. Just providing some different feedback.
For the OP, are you transferring your shields to the facing taking fire? Are you putting more power to weapons to end the fight quicker?
It was pretty tough, I died once. Dying is actually fine, but it took a looooooong time to destroy. I think that's a bigger problem.
Plinking is not fun. Especially this early in your progression. I died once, but that was my fault. The biggest problem is how long it takes to beat this ship.
Perhaps its 'too tough' as an early mission, and when its on higher difficulties it will be a bit rough but the game is generally a bit too easy. As the new baddies, I would not nerf it too much. maybe just knock its damage down a little.
If anything the ground enemies are too easy and tend to die very quickly.
I couldn't drop the ship's shields. Killed it with plasma DoT. I actually liked how the ship was an actual threat, but I don't think a new player is going to perform well in this fight.
May be easier if you could unlock Veril as a BO before the space fight. EPS would have worked wonders.

Skill up your tac BO torp ability, adjust your power distribution, use you battlecloak, batteries...it really becomes a pretty easy fight. At least, you shouldn't be at much risk of dieing.

That ship was healing too much, too quickly. Took like 5 minutes longer than it felt like it should have.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

There's a thought; this could be used as a "tutorial" fight for later big-ship fights. Since they KNOW exactly what your capabilities are at this point, they can suggest more advanced tactics such as:
Managing shield facings and power
Diverting all power to weapons
Cloaking mid-battle to gain a breather and plan a high-powered strike (core + HYT)
etc.
Was warned by a fleet-mate about the fight, so I entered expecting a tough battle. Had already skilled up my two bridge officers for high-yield and hazard emitters. Cloak, charge up HYT, fire at near range, evasive, cloak, repeat-- and fire off the plasma burst from the Singularity core whenever possible.
I admit I died (once), but I got distracted and left my forward shield facing them for a few seconds too long.
Let's face it... story-wise, you're in an ancient Bird-of-Prey from Kirk's era, with a few cobbled together parts, going up against a fairly advanced alien warship. You can't win on straight-up firepower, you've got to be more clever than they are.
Took me two times on elite setting to kill the ship, I noticed if you blow up the other Tal Shair ships before starting the fight, you have more ally ships to help you.
I didn't have much of an issue, I did die once (I got daring and rightfully paid the price for my stupidity), I found it took a while but if it's shields were a little weaker (it was under fire from about 5 ships including mine) it would be a little more fun for a new player.
The one thing I have noticed is that the mission (and maybe others) need proof reading

I think the issue with the Mysterious Ship isn't its tactics. Granted i did die a lot, but that is mostly user error and I know it, I am not used to the set up I have on my T'liss and being an early mission, don't really have the resources to adjust to fit my play style.
The issue, at least in my opinion, is it just does not die (well ok EVENTUALLY it dies). Knocking down a little shield and or hull strength on that puppy might (and I emphasis might) be ok. But really, it is a battle ship. I am not worried about it, but the fight was rather long.
yeah when I did it I killed everything that moved....I made sure every Tal shiar vessel was dead.
I didn't realize this mission was tough, I thought I messed up. I left my allies behind fighting other Tal Shiar ships. I figured I was plinking away at the mysterious ship for so long because my allies weren't with me. I died (once) and when I respawned I helped my allies finish off their ships and then we took out the mysterious ship.
The problem is no so much the boss ship as the fract that your own ship is so weak. I don't have enough points for my boff to train them. I have torpedo high yield and that is on 2 minute cooldown.
Your first ship has absolutely no punch. It is also slow, sometimes I cannot move because engine power is death, and turn rate is low too.
The fight is doable, when you fine tune things. But that is the problem with leveling content, what is the point of doing that, once you are a tier higher, most of your efforts are a waist.

It's pretty much this hard to keep just one timeline intact. ♪

Just reduce the amount of HP the ship has by maybe 30%, to make it a little quicker. That's the only change I'd make!
