Need some help - Photonic Tactical Officer Candidate

dauntlessf05dauntlessf05 Member Posts: 268 Media Corps
Hey everyone,

Problem I'm having is with the Photonic Tactical Officer Candidate from the Lobi store. I purchased it the other day and unpacked it. I went to commission the Boff, but I keep getting an error saying "You do not meet the requirements for this" or something to that effect. I have a free spot for a Boff, I'm lvl 50, and I can't quite think of what the issue could be.

P.S. I tried doing a search for this issue and couldn't come up with anything. Maybe I didn't try hard enough, but if the question has been answered my apologies.

P.S.S - Also sorry if I put this in the wrong section :P

Cheers!

Is this captain Fed or KDF? Not sure if that's relevant, though.

Did you have the space to open the box in your BOFF roster? Not your BOFF slots with all your named BOFFs and such, but your roster, the one on the right with all the candidates?

Free open a spot there, then try again, also making sure you have an open spot on the left.

If that doesn't work, try and make sure to open it on the ground (just to cover all your bases). If no even then, report a bug.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

The box has already been unpacked and he is now sitting with the other candidates

Sounds like he's from the incorrect faction. Not that I know the first thing about the photonic officer.

so you had lots of space in the "candidate roster" - and its not in inventory/overflow - then submit support ticket.

always good to clear out candidate roster of boffs you don't plan to use. blues and greens are mostly worthless - except saurian with warp efficent trait.

well i know its not a level restriction sicne i commissioned one at level 1.

And Im sure its not a faction thing, all the lobi store stuff specifically says what faction its for, and the Photonic officer is faction neutral, or at least usable by fed/KDF. Is the officer in your inventory still, or your candidate roster?

I don't think you can commission officers directly from your inventory if its there. I think you'll have to toss one of your current candidates and put it in your candidate list before you can put it in your roster.

I hope Roms can use the photonic officer from level 1... i have two sitting in my account bank, hoping to toss them on roms when may comes.

How many candidates do you have? You're limited to 12, independent of boff slots. Overflow from some sources will go to regular inventory and they're generally stuck there until you clear room, after which you can right click to move them to the candidate list.

It's a design flaw with how the game handles recruiting new officers.

The above statement that you have to kick one off your current "candidate" list is likely correct. Dump one of those 12 from the candidates list, move the Photonic over to that list, then try adding him again.

It's dumb, but this is how it works. I had the same issue with my Tier IV diplomacy BOFF, as I couldn't even claim the thing until I dumped a spot of the candidate list even though I had a slot open in my crew.

Check. Stop assuming. Hover over the candidate and look at the (second or third) line. It will say KDF or Starfleet. BOffs and BOff candidates are ALWAYS faction specific, they cannot exist without a faction, just like DOffs. "Faction Neutral" is represented in game by having two identical copies of the Boff/doff in question.

Otherwise, it might just be the recruitment bug. Always keep 1 slot (extra) open in your BOff roster and BOff candidate roster [so if you're trying to recruit someone, have 2 open spots], because sometimes it checks if you have room at inappropriate times.

Sorry I made a typo earlier, i meant to say "The box has already been unpacked and he is now sitting with the other candidates"

I have a total of 6 candidates (including the one in question). All the other ones can join my Boff roster except this one.

The box in question can be purchase by any faction. But you get a different type of Boff when you open it depending on what faction your with. Just like the temporl ships for example.

The officer in question is Photonic MACO Reinforcement Bridge Officer.

He is in my candidate roster now.

In-case your just reading this now, here is the TL;DR

    - Bought Photonic Tactical Officer Candidate from Lobi store
    - Unpack and got Photonic MACO Reinforcement Bridge Officer
    - Photonic MACO Reinforcement Bridge Officer is sitting in Candidate section
    - Get error saying "You do not meet the requirements for this" or something to that effect" (I am a Fed LVL50)
    - I have space for another Boff
    - Other candidates are able to join my Boff Roster

I did check. Im not assuming. He bought it from the lobi store, NOT the exchange, which means it would be the same faction as him when he opened the box. since the Photonic boff box is usable by both Fed's and KDF, and will become a factions specific boff only upon opneing That is not the problem.
