SO I logged in as my main KDF toon (Tac) and finally tried out the Honor Day event and I liked it very much.
Simple and not overdone in both entrance and the bridge itself but enjoyable and as Klingons would expect a wierd sense of spartanness* melded with dominating prescence in one design. I liked it considering I had as of yet never seen the BortasQu's bridge before.
The cast of characters where interesting and well written in a Klingon as well as non-Klingon sense as far as dialouge but they gave some very good, I dare say an almost Keith R. A. D-esque quality of writting. Very Klingon.
Captain Koren, Worf's Stepdaughter? interesting
Seems Older, miles of stories written in flesh even with the scars. The White hair really set that felling in.
Strict though as any Captain should be when needed it seems. Especially considering most of her crew is on shore leave, free and unsupervised and she is parked in orbit for political pomp and show as much as anything else. Such shows do work hence why they are done, I guess.
Her reflection on Honor day where very Klingon, nice job. I like the background history.
I will say she seemed as confident of her position of Captain as a naked husband holding two steaming cups of coffee and a half dozen doughnuts for his wife at morning would be and is well suited in my opinion for the job.
Chief Engineer Tarol is the most hardcore religiuosly intent Klingon I have ever met. I mean guantanamo bay intent KLingon. She lives it.
Semper fi
Her thoughts on honor day where very well writen and did a good job of showing that klingon resentment for not being able to face a foe in combat but that "I drank the cool-aid" sense of comitment to to ones function and what purpose it serves.
I mean if she was Jack Nickolsons role in the movie A Few Good Men, ol'Tommie boy and other visiting friends would have never left outside a zipper if it meant danger to Jack's (or in this case CE Koren) preciuos status quo is what I'm thinking is all I'm saying.
I liked the fact that the non-klingon races that one talks to did not have scripting that sounded Klingon in syntax but better reflected thier own cultures view of honor. Even the rpissy angry Orions.
Overall the mission was well written and truelly felt Klingon when it was suppossed to and not when it was not.
The views out the windows are awesome.
The Bath'leth is very nice.
Thanks for the Honor Day event.
Any chance of a duel wield option in ground combat in the future?
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

My favorite member of the crew is the Science Officer.
The Bath'leth is very nice.
IT is. But I really would have liked a D'k tahg or a mek'Leth at this point. That way I can swap from one to the other in combat, since I already have a bunch of nifty bat'leths.
I like the fact that the Orion Doctor echoed my sentiments on the idiocy of Klingons.
However, I am disappointed that the reward was yet another bat'leth.
I have 2 scaling bat'leths already and this makes the third.
Can't recall if there's a 4th, the purple one from the christmas event last year.
Could we at least get a different klingon melee weapon, preferably a one-handed one?

Aye. The 'Day of Honor' was most fun. I had a blast chatting with the commanding staff of our flagship and it was cool to finally meet them all. It really had that Klingon feel to it and I'm glad that Cryptic decided to make this happen.
Personally, I especially liked the view that the ship's first officer Bo'roth has on honor. All the other characters were very well written and the observations made by the non-Klingon staff also made sence from their species pov.
The bat'leth reward is a really nice touch and provides something that can actually be usefull in the game.
All in all, it was a fun experience and I loved every minute of it. Big thanks to the devs. for their effort to make this happen. Just verifies my opinion that although they rarely make unique KDF content, when they do - they always nail it.
It was done extremely well and I'd like to thank the dev's for putting the effort into it and giving us our own event to match the Federation but is original and Klingon. I really like the reward too much better then the non-combat pet the Federation gets.
So thanks very much dev's you've done a really nice job and it shows. It makes me proud to play as a KDF player with we get Klingon like content like the Day of Honour event.

I can agree. The Devs have Bath'leths downpat. Its time to be creative and try for something new.
I would love iether the mek'leth or D'k tahg, especially if they could create a toss hand-to-hand graphic for it.
I like the fact that the Orion Doctor echoed my sentiments on the idiocy of Klingons.
I liked that he did not see the point of HD or honor in generalnad viewed the Klingons with some measure of disdain. It gave substance to his character but I did find his overall demeanor a little to prim and proper in my opinion.
Its interesting that you mentioned such a thing as Klingon "idiocy" yet still play the KDF faction enjoyably. You may be interested to know an episode on the possible and existing racial/cultural tensions that are in the KDF faction is in the works for the Gates of Stovokor, I hear.

The crew were very unique and likable, and I will now picture them at their stations whenever the Bortas'qu warps in to help Tau Dewa missions. Heck, I even liked the Doctor- Even though I vehemently disagree with his views.

I am not a regular KDF player by far (yet) but I did try the Day of Honor event. The bridge set was simply amazing, loved the bay windows and all... and crew was also well done, almost came out of a IKS Gorkon novel.
Aww TRIBBLE !
I've been so conditioned over the past year to get in and out quickly and grab the loot I totally forgot to read all that character dribble.
I've seen that bridge before tho, in one of the missions.
Reminds me of the Cygnus bridge from Disney's Black Hole.

You can still visit the I.K.S. Bortasqu' and chat with the crew if you'd like, even if you already finished the mission. The flagship will be orbiting Qo'noS untill patch day I think.

I wouldn't call it similar, but I know what your feeling. I just hope they don't mess up the black hole remake like so many other recent remakes. The Cygnus has a unique awesomeness like the original Galactica or eagle from space:1999, and doesn't need modernizing.
the fact that you can see the ship's bow through the window was a nice touch, almost reminded me of the Daedalus class ships on Stargate SG-1/Atlantis. The inclusion of the ship's QaS Devwl' was also a cool, a nice tie in with the Gorkon novels, even though in the books they aren't really in charge of all the troops, just one company of them.

I concur. My favourite bridge in the game, very appropriate for a predator ship of the Klingon Empire as the Bortasqu' is.
