Suggestion: Revamp Targetting

By far the most frustrating thing for me in the game right now is the space targeting system. I think the whole system should be looked at and revamped, because there are a bunch of funky and frustrating things that happen.

1. Not targeting things out of vision.

This is one of the most frustrating things. Many times, I know there is something one km behind me, and I hit tab tab tab tab and get things that are 25km+ away from me in front of me. The same thing happens when I hit the ` key, which is the one I bound to target closest enemy.

I dont know what part of the targeting code makes this happen, but it would be appreciated if this was fixed.

2. Not toggling through targets.

Just make it so you can toggle through the targets. So many times, there is something next to me that I want to target, but I will go back and forth between gateway, ship 25km away, gateway, ship 25 km away, etc. Just let me toggle through targets.

These are really the two main things. For whatever reason, targeting feels so much better and smother in PvP then it does in PvE. I think it might be the threat system doesnt have as much sway? Maybe it is just less stuff to target? Whatever the reason, in PvP, I can hit tab 5 or so times at most and get the right target. Oftentimes in PvE, i can hit tab an inifinite amount of times and not get the right target. This is extremely frustrating.

I feel your pain. I fly an escort and the only things I ever want to target are those in front of my face...you know, where the cannons are pointing. But no, no matter how I set it up in the options menu, auto target has a mind of it's own. The only thing it hasn't targeted so far is my own ship...but it wouldn't surprise me. It helps to select your targets with the mouse. That helps a lot with stupid enemy pets which are only 5% threat and 95% pain in the TRIBBLE, but are the targets auto target can't seem to resist and wastes all your buffs on. Where the mouse method frequently fails is when you're trying to target an enemy close to a large object i.e. a starbase or unimatrix. Then you have to revert back to using TAB if you're not dead by then.

What I would like to see is 'Target Lock', to not lose a specified target.
