"This fearsome energy weapon draws power from the ship's engines to deal massive damage to the enemy"
....means nothing apparently because the only way I can get these things to increase their damage is to increase the weapons energy bar and not the engines bar. What gives?
They are only good for leveling a character. Keeps you from having to equip you ship. I run the Connnie beam arrays on sci and cruiser while leveling for same reason..
Well when i increase my weapon power it's fine, does as much as the fleet advanced but I'm just mad that they can't even make a weapon like this do what It's supposed to which is use engine power. I had planned on using it on my vesta which would have been cool because I'd have a little bit more defense due to enemies trying to knockout weaponpower rather then engine or aux, and I like the motion defense I get because I'm quite tired of the escort fashion killing on a science ship it's just weird, when I'm flying around like this close to the enemy with photon and other particle blasts to disable and damage the enemy it's so much more fun then trying to use the horribly designed and weak TR and GW that everyone uses all the time.
It would be nice if they actually did what they advertised they'd do since one can actually use them end game besides I'd much rather have power from eng taken on a vesta then power from aux in the middle of some moment when aux is actually needed the most for a heal or a def pop.
The Quad cannons actually draw power from BOTH engines AND weapons (unbelievable amirite?). Therefore, in addition to keeping your weapon power levels up, you also have to throw a bit into the engines if you want to max out the DPS on the quad cannons.
Correct me if im wrong 8ut I think it slows you down instead of drawing actual power, they are pretty much useless anyways.
It draws power from the engines every time it shoots.
That said, think of the energy drain like any other weapon. When it fires, it drains energy from the weapon system.
The Quad cannons drains energy from engines and weapons. However, it doesn't specifically say that a damage modifier is included when power is drawn from the engines.
It just says it draws power from the engines and does "massive" damage. Which is true. It's got the highest DPS in the game. If DPS was the only thing that mattered...
only if you PVP for us that do PVE aka over 50% we can run around all day with dmgx4 weapons and do just fine tyvm
Yeah I agree, I like it. It's thematic, it looks cool, it's fun. I don't use it on min/max setups but I do like to use it on builds on a few toons. As part of a good setup you can go with Quad + DC + DHC + DHC which looks epic. Sure, it's not going to get as much DPS as 4 DHCs but really? Who cares. It's not a huge amount anyway!

Why are you not rejoicing?

Actually, the Andorian Wing Cannons beat it out by a noticeable margin. But I digress.
