STO in Windows 8

Ok so I'm playing on a laptop with the following specs:

Second generation Intel i5 2450 running 2.5Ghz Dual core Turbo at 2.8ghz dual core and 3.2 Ghz Single core
8Gb RAM
Nvidia GT555M GPU
Windows 7 and Windows 8 dual-booting

Now I play STO in both operating systems but I have a texture issue in Windows 8 that doesn't appear in Windows 7 where character skin textures turn black and only appear their true colours in certain areas and at certain angles. The question is, is Windows 8 supported or should I keep playing in Windows 7?

As it stands Windows 8 runs the game better aside from this issue.

I'm currently running near ultra settings using the Dx11 driver so I expect some textures not to appear properly but this one is rather major especially when you have it constantly while making a character.

Thanks in advance for any information on the metter

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say not all video drivers support windows 8 yet. Check to see if there's a driver update for your video card and chipset.

Went to Nvidia's site and updated my windows 7 driver which proceeded to cause the same issue to appear so will roll back the Win 8 driver at some point

You would be beyond wrong, they have been supported since Win8 was in Beta.

do me a favor, OP try and go to the troubleshooting section of the Video options, (scroll to the bottom after enabeling Advanced settings) and you will see it listing your GPU(graphics card) and try one of the Dx11 Beta options instead, They might kill the texture issue you have.

Need to install DX9 as win 8 does not install it. Sence most of STO is DX9 based.
Also DX9 gets fussy when you try to install it on win 8 run it as admin and in win 7 compatabilty mode also update to latest nvidia driver for win 8 :D

I run windows 8 as well for STO. Do NOT use DX11 use DX9, DX11 is very buggy. Don't worry about running it in Windows 7 mode, thats just silly. It will run win just like it is but in DX9.
