That has been what I have been saying all along! I have several characters, a few engineers, tactical and even science, non of them have issues, so I think the greifers that cry for nerfs just don't know how to play....Or can't take defeat like a Man/Woman, I know when I have been bested No shame in admitting it...Its a game, you take what you learn and prepare yourself for it, and yes there IS a way around everything, perhaps you need a different ship, different weapons.....perhaps your traits are all goofy and aren't working out for you

I believe people get too easily confused between Escorts and Tactical officers.
Escorts aren't "OP." Tactical Captains are. And good luck to Cryptic if they try to nerf a group that makes up 75% of the in game population. They let the imbalance fester to the point where most people just accept that Tactical is the way the game is played, and Engineering or Science are just for laughs or PvP.
Escorts only appear to be OP because they multiply the effect of tactical captains, and any one who is totally obsessed with doing the most DPS will fly an escort.
However, if science and engineering captains increased their respective areas of influence as much as tactical captains do, and if those areas of influence mattered as much as raw damage, then the fact that escorts do more raw damage wouldn't matter.
When a viral matrix or gravity well has as much impact and as short a cooldown as Cannon Rapid Fire or Scatter Volley, and a science captain is actually MUCH better at using it than a tactical captain is, then having a vessel with more aux and more science consoles and officers (but fewer guns that are weaker hitting) then an escort won't be seen as the supreme choice. Look at the tier 5 power for New Romulus Rep and tell me why that's a generic power instead of science specific? Why doesn't science captain have a science/"space magic" version of Attack Pattern Alpha?
When cruisers are actually easier to heal, not just have a thicker hull, and being able to broadside 7-8 beams actually provides some kind of advantage (doesn't need to be damage, just something), and engineering captains can exploit that and make engineering powers stronger and better, then cruisers won't be seen as a liability by those who want to min max. Although, to be fair, I see a ton of cruisers anyway, so whether or not they are poor or good compared to escorts, it doesn't prevent people from liking their giant ship o' doom.

and whats wrong with that ??? because right now cruisers are broken most of all and escorts are just outta control and sci ships move em back to f2p levels or give em 4 weapon hard point up front and be done with it

Really? Tactical Captains are OP and not Escorts? thats funny cause Im a Tactical Captain that flies CRUISERS and IMO Escorts are more overpowered then superman on steroids, and Cruiser's have become Masters of None instead of the Jack of all trades they used to be
i was taking a snipe at all the L33T MLG SKILZ escort jocks complaining about anything that would detract from their easymode.
As a captain of well over 30 ships, I must say obtaining "easymode" is not that... easy to achieve. However it is attainable in all 3 types, just in a different form. Clearly tacs can destroy at will but how many "undestroyable" Odys have you seen, or Scis that can cripple an escort. Not saying tacs aren't OP compared to the others but it's a tradeoff and only for those skilled enough (or rich enough to buy pre-builds) to obtain. Overall, it WOULD be nice to see more balance in the game. Especially regarding the lousy leveling scale.

So realistically, you only need to have the exact number of doffs that you need. ~leadme2kirk
I have found that to achieve "easy" mode in any ship requires a hefty amount of fleet marks, omega marks, romulan marks and a very healthy dose of refined Dilithium
that said you can make some fairly evil/nasty builds for PvE/PvP and at least on the PvE front achieve Easy Mode.....
you will need somewhere in the neighborhood of 140k Fleet Credits, and 70k refined Dilithium JUST for the weapons.... this does not take into account the consoles, for your engines shields and deflectors you will need somewhere in the neighborhood of 140k refined dilithium and around 1000 Omega marks for any 1 of the Mk XII space sets..... then there are the science threat scaling consoles
all in all you are looking at needing somewhere on the order of 200k-250k refined Dilithium for gear and weapons... and that takes a while to farm up if you are are a new player...... but the upside is that when you FINALLY achieve your end goal of weapons and gear everything else will come together fairly quickly.......

so many shout at people to learn to play..... but until some of you that tell people to learn to play actually start teaching these players how to do it then you are part of the problem..... this is not Aimed at anyone and yes I quoted someone that said that people needed to learn to play.... but for as many people I see EVERYDAY telling the new players or people that don't know to learn to play I RARELY see anyone trying to be helpful and taking said uninformed player aside to explain how things work..... I have done this with several people and while I am not the authority on any specific ship or class I have a good grounding in the basics and I share that knowledge freely with any that ask.... as for the ones that instead of helping take a L2P stance you are proving that the elitism in this game is as bad as in ANY OTHER MMO out there.... we are a community.... some like PVP others like PVE..... while others don't so much care about the mechanics of the game and just want a Role-Playing experience..... none of these things are wrong.... but the elitist attitudes I have been seeing more and more in these last weeks is beginning to actually drive players away from the game, and that cannot possible be a good thing for the future of this game....
so please before saying something along the lines of Learn to Play... stop and think... there was a time when you knew nothing and had to learn and I'm quite sure you had help from others on your path to learning how to play the game

Honestly I think their would be fewer complaints about fed cruisers if they just made them like battlecruisers, I mean seriously the way things sound for the next update its not like Klink players can use the no content defense anymore and even then since when have decent starships been a Klingon only thing if anything to stick to the source material Klingons ships should suck for the most part.

I fly the only real fed Warship, the Dreadnought Cruiser, KDF have their own mess of problems
im sick of the nerf this nerf that of ppl on the forms n its put me off buying things from the c-store because a mth or 2 after ive payed for it, something gets nerfed cos ppl cry because there cant work out how to beat it.
maybe if there used there brains there would work out how to beat it or at lest have the brains to ask around.
What source material says the KDF vessel designs are worse than than the feds, or any races vessels?
If anything, fan written or even IP written, source materials tend to enlarge thier own favorite ships functions and capabilities over all others and cant be taken as concrete.

Klingon ships are supposed to be overpowered under armored attack or die style of ships but STO has that concept completley bassackwards.
The klink cruisers are underpowered and over armored the negh var turns to quick to be what it is in canon (A battleship) the raptors are nicley powered to armored and they need a tick better turn rate.
And the one ship that is a symbol of what it is to be the klingon empire (BoP) has been nerfed so much that only the crazy,brave or suicidal will fly it (I fly a B'Rel on my KDF ).
I think cryptic needs to nerf the over armor of kling ships and nerf the larger kling cruisers turn rates and for petes sake make the BoP better give it a little more armor and firepower.
A thread titled "nerf nerf nerf" is practically guaranteed to end badly and this thread does not disappoint in that regard.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why some people can't understand that "Learn 2 Play" is an insult that offends people, whether it's true or whether it isn't.
If people have something constructive to say, by all means do. Unfortunately, you'll need to be constructive in a different thread.
