Well imho there's alot of work needed for that set up but really there is no "100% the right way" for STO. I'll just say that shield regen setups for escorts is a bad decision. Shield gens are vastly superior, but regen can be made to work for cruisers quite well. I tried a shield regen setup in an escort once in full borg gear. I quickly switched back to shield gens and MACO. Escorts don't have the hull strength for it to work. Especially the kumari escorts.
Yea my previous ship was a cruiser so some of the items I am using were pulled off that ship. But you are saying that the Field gen console would be better science choice. Also working up my omega rep so I can get borg and maco items as from what I understand they are some of the best. One thing I am not clear on is should you go full borg or maco or mix the two. Saw some people using borg dish and impulse and maco shields
-Flip flop Transfer Shield Strength and Hazard Emitters. TSS II and HE I works better than TSS I and HE II
-Move Emergency Power to Shields to ensign level, drop engineering team, and add in Reverse Shield Polarity I. Engineering team interferes with your tactical team cycle, which is critical for escorts. Reverse Shield Polarity provides an emergency shield energy damage immunity. (If you feel short on hull heals, consider Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field I)
-Replace Cannon Scatter volley with Attack Pattern Omega III (the most powerful tactical buff in the game. It provides immunity to all movement debuffs, boosts damage, defense, and damage resistance, and increases turn rate/speed.)
-Replace Torpedo Spread III or Torpedo High Yield II with a second cannon skill. Then replace one of the copies of Tactical team with a torpedo skill.
-Get 1 or 2 very rare conn duty officers on active roster for cooldown reduction on your single copy of Tactical Team. (2 conn officers makes 1 copy of Tactical Team work like two copies, freeing up a boff slot. The buff is also nice.)
-Shield Emitter Amplifiers don't work very well on escorts. Consider replacing them with Shield Emitter Arrays, as they directly boost the amount of healing from Emergency Power to Shields and Transfer Shield Strength.
-You have very good turn rate, so you don't need the lower damage wide angle quantum torpedo launcher. Consider replacing it with a higher damage 90 degree quantum torpedo launcher.
-You have 6 phaser weapons and 1 quantum torpedo launcher. Replacing your quantum tactical console with a phaser relay will increase your overall damage.
-Dual Heavy Cannons are more power efficient due to their shorter fire cycle. They also have an innate 10% critical severity bonus, making them significantly better than just Dual Cannons. You may wish to replace your Dual Cannons with Dual Heavy Cannons.
-If you are able, I would suggest attempting to obtain the Omega Deflector/Engine/Shield. The set is finely tuned for use on escorts. The deflector boosts accuracy, the engines have the highest turn rate and speed out of all set engines, and the shield boosts turn rate/speed when fired on. Also, the two piece bonus provides a shield strip ability and the third piece provides a major defense and torpedo damage resistance debuff.
