auto fire?

When in combat, how do I get my weapons to fire by themselves.

I know, initially when you enter a zone, you actually have to press the button or double right-click on the enemy to shoot but I can't get that even.

Essentially, when you're in combat, you eliminate one enemy and then your ship should find the next nearest target or one that you're looking at (on screen) and start firing again.

Any help is appreciated.

In your options you can turn autofire on, after that just right click on the weapon under your Attackbuttons to turn them on autofire(they turn green then).

You need to enable it in Options>Controls first (there's also a separate space and ground setting for it). Toggle, Change cancels is a good setting, but the default is off.

    Right track but doesn't work.

I know about the right-clicking on the weapons console auto fires. Just want to be able to keep firing without pressing the fire button.

When they're highlighted green, one press of the button and they'll keep firing every cycle without intervention. They'll pause for their cooldowns each cycle, but you don't have to keep hitting the button to make them fire the next round.

Setting it to Toggle, non-Combat Cancels or Never Cancels will take it one further: they won't quit firing as long as there's something in range, they'll find something else to shoot at. You can potentially clear a whole map without having to press the fire button a second time.

Right click on the weapons in the hud to enable them to auto fire, the icon border turns green, then you set your autofire mode choices in options.
I'm currently trying to figure out how to keybind toggling the global autofire mode for the few times when I don't want the weapons to keep on firing.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

Still not quite working the way I want it.

Before I reset my character, I was able to enter a zone, head towards an enemy and press fire once. He'd get blowed up but good and I'd head to another group and I wouldn't have to press anything - the weapons would just go off.

Do I need to turn autofire(!) off and the go into options and then turn autofire(!) back on?

Could it be a BOff skill? I always used one of my attack patterns like Alpha when in combat.

    Try these settings:

    Options / Controls
Only attack if target selected: Off
Select auto target on attack: On
    Target threatening enemies first: On
    Select attacker if attacked: On
    Auto Attack: Maintain

you can also just drop 1 weapon onto your skill bar and mash the 1 key or whatever to start shooting. Not 100% sure but you can also probably bind "fire all weapons" to a key and use that to start.
