Who cares about romulans? The UI changes are awesome!

taergontaergon Member Posts: 1 Arc User
With only one snapshot of the UI to look at it already looks great. I was always a bit put off by how shiney and 'effect' based all the buttons, bars, mouse-over effects were and I just love the return to the flat style.

Also one of the primary barriers to me playing the klingon faction was the red UI giving me a headache after playing for 30mins. I can finally dive into those great looking raptors.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the rest of the interface but GJ so far and thankyou for developing something that is often overlooked.

    This. Pretty much this.

I'm almost more excited about the UI changes and the ability to customize the color palette. (Not that a Romulan Faction is not awesome).

Indeed. Thread title purely for impact, Romulans are definitely still awesome.

It's simpler, cleaner, in good Trek fashion. Should add a bit more of an authentic feel when playing. :)

Is it a complete overhaul? As I understand it, the original UI 'engine' (?) was poor in terms of performance. As a look, it looks great. Much easier on the eyes.

Have not seen any other information yet. Looks like a re-skin, don't know if there are any changes going on underneath.

I'm kind of surprised it wasn't LCARS to begin with.

You mean skills will now activate the first time you click them? That would be awesome.

Agreed. The new UI looks absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that it's customizable is awesome, but I do hope we see an equally gorgeous performance upgrade.
You're right. The work here is very important.

Totally agree, it is probably the part the teaser that has excited me the most. I really like the subtle difference between them as well - Federation is rounded, Klingon is hard edges, Romulan is.. zig-zaggy.

Overall though, the new UI just 'feels' nicer/smoother. Big props.

New UI is nice I have to admit... Klingon side still needs work and if they are going to treat the Romulans the same way its gonna be TRIBBLE.

It wasn't that bad! but a complete over-haul wouldn't of hurt (apart from time and money lol)

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but /screenshot_ui does take a screenshot which includes the UI.

Bump talk, I'm at work and am impatient. I demand a screenshot be posted here not using photobucket.

We'll get back to you in 2 months, when the new UI actually goes live. :)

    I failed at the internet.

Nevermind :D Besides, the trailer site shows a screenshot, it's just not the Space UI ...

That new UI looks very snazzy, I just hope it comes with TNG oranges and yellows. :D

I wasn't very excited by the FED color scheme on show. I'm hoping the color customization will allow for a broad range of selections, and not just a primary and secondary color.

There are some menus that can be cleaned up a bit. Things like if you heal an injury and the game asks you if you want to heal it, twice, for some reason. Little details, redunancies. Hopefully it's not just graphical. Though it does look good.

Hate to be a me-too-er but the UI has me quite excited. I'll admit though, my enthusiasm will take a bath if it is only a comprehensive re-skin. Here's hoping. d('-' )

And hey ho! Maybe I can start playing the Federation again? that UI colouration always felt
so drab (dull, plain), lifeless. Not to mention it'd make me feel a little nauseous now & then.
But well, I've never been a navy nor baby blue appreciator- just gives off too much light.

Gods yes, the UX obsessive in me would just love to have a month of programmer / designer time to wade through that sort of thing.
