Cryptic seems to have a lot of energy lately, so I suggest they put it into releasing a STO soundtrack. The game has great music, and I'd love to have it on my iPod. I don't mean a physical CD release - just mp3s on iTunes would be great. Cryptic, make it so!

Your kidding right....? STO has one of the worst scores I've ever heard for any game I've ever played. It's just so... Bland and generic (and this is coming from an avid composer and movie score fanatic, not just a gamer.) I know they didn't have the budget for Elfman, Zimmer, or Williams but come on, this was utterly generic music accompanied by a few familiar Star Trek chords used through countless commercials and advertisements.
God forbid they use an orchestra from a high school or a low budget orchestra trying to make a name for themselves, the majority of this game is suppose to be "epic" yet 90% of the music is done on frigging synthesizers and run through an audio booth with little bells and whistles. It's utter garbage and insulting to anyone who would consider themselves an avid fan of composed and scored music.... Oh god, I let my inner music nerd out for a moment... I am so sorry about that.
Luckily I'm allowed to have my own opinion on music, and I think the music is great. Sorry you typed out so much vitriol for no reason

Now don't assume that I'm a music-hater because I'm not. Six years of playing music brought with it a very profound enjoyment of many different and varied forms of music.
Very first thing I do with any computer game that I install to play is to configure the music OFF. I'm playing a game to play and since I'm in the mood to play, I don't need any sort of mood music to go with the game. I would rather listen to the sound effects or actually be able to hear any audible character voices.
This license probably also prohibits Cryptic from releasing a soundtrack.
I didn't realize clearly and concisely stating an opinion was considered vitriol, thanks for educatin me brah!
Yeah I know... It's a shame since the TV shows had some pretty good composers as well. I mean even if you took generic scored music and run it through a live orchestra rather then synthesize it, it still sounds 10 times better. I'd bet money that if you even took the pieces of music that are in the game right now, got a live orchestra to perform them, people would be like "ERMAGERD TIS MURSIC IS EWRSOME!!!" I'm just saying they could have done a bit more even on a limited budget if they cared.
key phrase right there.
google is your friend...besides as others have posted already a supposed soundtrack wouldnt sell well anyways...if at all

Jeremy Soule, this game is not.
I have no idea why PC games even bother with in-house music in the 2010's. It's like having an option to reduce the graphics to 8-bit sprites.
