Someone suggest me a new escort :)

I decided i fancy a change from my mobius and want to find out what escorts tier 5 of course people use and what you think and why so i can have a better idea on what to use lol i do also want to add two random questions

1 does the tactical escort retrofit look good with full borg set? As in is it noticeably visible?
2 does engine consoles really make that much difference to the speed?

    Fleet Defiant-R (Tactical Escort Retrofit) rox all my sox. I think the Borg set looks horrid on pretty much all ships, so I hide the visuals. I actually have the Aegis set on mine for looks, I barely play anymore so I don't care about being sort of weak with it. MACO Mk XII is also a nice choice.

    I personally don't use the engine consoles on escorts but many folks swear by them, and I'm no expert so I won't even pretend to argue. I just find survivability (neutronium alloys in the Eng slots) to be far more effective for my brawler style.

    The Borg set art on the Defiant looks pretty disastrous. You know that lump that grows over the starboard warp nacelle of borgified ships? On the Defiant it actually hangs over the forward edge. So, yeah, I'll say its noticeable. And its absolutely hideous.

    That aside, you can't go wrong with that ship, especially the fleet version, which many people claim is the best ship in the game and I reckon they're not lying.

    If you're looking for a ship that looks good assimilated, might I recommend the Patrol / Mirror Advanced Escort (Dervish/Gryphon/Hermes-class) Its one of the few ships that can really pull off the look.

    I thought people swore the jhas was the best lol u know u can disable the visuals lol is there a pic of a borgified defiant?

    Armitage is a very solid and flexible escort.

    Best ship for the borg set visuals is the Guramba, in siege mode it looks like a evil spider that would give Shelob the willies.

    jhas is not the best but it surely is n000b proof. People have really high expectations when they buy it only to find out that it still needs work when it comes to damage delivery (albeit not as much as others) to make the best out of it.

    i love my Armitage (AKIRA!!!),
    Beam Ovarload + dual beam bank + TAC damage buffs = drops shields FAST
    once shields are gone -> EPIC Photon TORPEDO SPAM, just make sure to skill in photons more so than in energy damage.

    and for tanking, all you need is minimum shield energy levels, and some shield regen drones in the hangar bay, everything else goes to Aux and Hull Tanking skills.



    the JHAS.... is nice, but it is a very very basic escort, no bells and whistles, just like the defiant, it is a DHC purist ship.
    good ship, but gets boring unless you go for the full Jem'Hadar roleplay experience.

    I got the JHAS for 165M EC on the exchange a while ago. They will be down to that again soon I think. It's a great escort, for sure, and the main thing my KDF Tac uses. I'm not wild about it, perhaps as I don't yet PVP, but I do like it.

    I have the Armitage as one of my main Fed Tac ships and really like that. I have tried Elite Scorpions and Danubes and might also have a look at a tanky shield drone build. 2000 Zen for this.

    I am seriously considering a fleet Defiant now as we approach T3. 2500 Zen (2000 for standard ship plus a 500 upgrade to fleet, the only way to do it and have a cloaking console).

    Thing is, there are also so some nice free options:

    The Mirror escorts are as low as 40,000EC on the exchange which is nearly free. Good, solid escorts that will be fun. I always liked my T4 AE Escort.

    The 'ice race' Breen is great and it has the slots etc. to make a wicked plasma build ESTF ship. I really enjoy this. Pointless suggestion if you don't already have it, I guess.
