Get d'kora or not?

Evening :)

Im starting to look at the possibility of buying a d'kora, but unsure as to whether it's worth it.

Im currently running a sci oddy, with 7beam and the cutting beam. I enjoy playing a damage soaker, and while the sci oddy is excellent at it, im wondering if the d'kora can do the same, while pushing out more damage.

Ill want to run the d'kora with dhc's and turrets.

Is it realistic for me to expect the d'kora to do much better damage the the oddy, while still maintaining the tanking ability?

ill prolly run:

ens tac: cannon scatter volley
lt.cmd tac: tt/scatter volley/apb
cmd eng: epts1/epts2/eptw3/aux to sif3
lt eng: eptw1/rsp1
sci: he/tss

Is it worth spending the EC, or should i just look at maximising my oddy?

Is it realistic looking for a ship that damages similar to an escort and tanks like an oddy?

Thanks :)

You cant put cannon scatter volly in the ens tac slot.

The d'kora is worth getting. It can tank and it can also do damage. That ship has 2 modes. It is also everything that the galaxy-x is not and in PvE the cannon turret build makes it one of the most damaging cruisers in the game. I would not recommend it in PvP but would advise on a Beam boat.

Can't speak from experience, but I feel that there's just something... underwhelming about the D'Kora. It is certainly better off than most Federation cruisers, especially in terms of offensive damage. However, it just doesn't seem all that impressive for a lockbox ship.

Its not overly crazy, the passive mode boosts are nice, but its a console. The Emp burst is pretty devastating to large targets.

its a good ship and has exchange mail and dabo on the bridge its very tanky.

tho id have to admit out of the d'kora and galor id rather have the galor its a fine fast cruiser with great dmg and a univseral boff station so u can u choose to be alittle more tanky or dps.

If you want a cruiser that is amazing at offense, go for the Galor. They unlock Spiral Wave Disruptor Beam Arrays, which have x2 [acc] and x2 [dmg] modifiers, as well as disruptor AND phaser procs. They're arguably the only beam array weapons actually worth using on any ship.

D'kora is far better in reality than it looks in the box. That's because Battle Mode, unlike unique consoles, is not something that you get to use every few minutes... it's on all the time. When battle mode is active (i.e. always), D'kora has a total of +30 points to energy and projectile damage skills, +15 power to weapons, +10 power to engines, +5 power to shields, and a free RCS console.

It's not going to tank as well as an Odyssey since it lacks the Aux power bonus and ability to run 2 copies of EPTS3, but it's going to dish out a lot more damage.

Thanks for the awesome replies so far!

I did concider the galor, but was drawn to the dkora because of the dhc's. but i think even with the dkora in battle mode they will be difficult to bring to bear.

I think i should take a look at the galor again, although the battle mode dmg boost is awesome. I definetely want a non-federation looking ship.

Don't forget that the bridge of the d'kora has a bank/mail and exchange on it.

The d'kora even in battle mode and even with an rcs does not really have the turn rate for dhc's, when I fly it with dhc's I just feel like I'm using turrets more then cannons, personaly I'd go with the galor over the d'kora, the spirles are awesome weapons and the boff seating is alot more flexable.

ive got both ships and out of the two i prefer galor tho they are both good ships d'kora is more tanky but the galor turns better and the universal boff slot is nice.

Ive decided i want to go for the d'kora.

I prefer the look, the additional damage to weapons, and the turn rate in battle mode will allow me more freedom to run torpedo spread.

I'll be running it as a beam boat though, with a fore plasma torp probably.

Because of my previous setup though, i was running all beams, and my skill training reflects that, so the torp wont be overly amazing.

The galor's 1.3 shield modifier is VERY tempting though, but i feel it will be a step toward suvivability rather than damage going for the galor, despite the spiral BA's.

Any additional input will be appreciated :)

    I won a D'kora yesterday...

and promptly traded it out for a Tufli Freighter. It's alright, but doesn't really bring anything to the table that other cruisers can't already do. If you want a lockbox cruiser, get the Galor. If you like it because it has bank / exchange etc...get a Tufli.

The Dakora is pretty tanky, moreso than the statistics tell you. Turn battle mode off, fire EMP and now you have gimpy enemies and increased resistances, when out of trouble put battle mode back on.

The Galor is fantastic, but at twice the price of the Dkora, its a tough buy

You traded... for a Tuffli? Even trade?

Please tell me you got credits back on that deal...

I've been flying the D'Kora for 6 months and still loving it!
It does really well in PvE and tanks fine in PvP.
A solid ship, trust me, get it!

    Got the dkora.

    It is awesome!

    That is all :p

Thanks for all the advice, really helped me decide. Cant speak as to the galor though. Its quite a bit less than double the price though. The dkora i got was 78mil, the cheapest galor was 98mil :)

    Have fun.

You got ripped then, just a couple weeks ago the Dkoras were around 50m, I got mine for 49. Most likely not using the exchange right

I would suggest to you to get the dora rather than the galore! The ship has a dabo table with Leeta gratis :D IMHO the best cruiser in the game :)
