One of STO's early misrepresentations in my opinion. Since the VoQ was also the first-ish true attempt to give the KDF a science friendly ship it fell short of living up to the dreadnought name in its design. Too Sci heavy and not enough Tac and Enginering in a its design.
The Mirror voQ is a little better, imo.
I had been giving it the side-eye, honestly, since it looks like it's somewhat more survivable than the standard version. But I still get by pretty dang well with it!
Anyways,
merryprankster2 (and others!), you guys are starting to tread head-first into "dangerously irrelevant to the topic of the thread" territory. I know I can't actually make you do anything about it, but I'm going to ask you anyways to please cut it out. I'm not trying to be rude or anything here, but I want this thread to be SOMEWHAT on the topic that I originally started it under.
No, we don't. We have "courier" ships in DS9, which is what the peregrine actually is, and no carriers, nor carrier operations depicted, either. The peregrine was turned into a fighter by the Maquis.
No the Federation definitely uses Peregrine Fighters is several DS9 episodes, lead by the Defiant.
Yes the Maquis used some, but they where still Federation Ships.
Aye, which is perplexing, because all the Jupiter's you ever see in-game are marked as NX, heh. But I figured, a re-designed Jupiter would probably get a bit of a contemporary makeover, maybe? And the Spirit class isn't quite 2409, really. Close, though! And the Jupiter itself is quite large, remember. It always struck me as being able to hold quite a bit of small craft. A re-designed one could easily accommodate something as small as a Spirit class.
My problem wasn't with the size so much as with the design differences between the Spirit and Jupiter.
Also the Spirit seems more of a Science Vessel, surly an Escort type would be a better choice, maybe the Sao Paulo or Gladious Classes.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

The only part of the Jupiter i would keep is the nacelle layout... Make it a flat oval saucer nice and sleek and sexy, with four nice looking nacelles sweeping back...
I think the federation needs to take a more unconventional approach to ship design i mean look at the Wells class! we get there in 500 years so might as well stgart now...

I didn't say StarFleet doesn't use Peregrines. I'm saying the Peregrines depicted in DS9 are not carrier launched, and that they are a courier class ship, that were armed by the Maquis, and captured, and reflagged, by StarFleet, as a stop gap measure, to hold off the Dominion armada. All I'm sayin'.

I agree that the Jupiter Class could be a great true Carrier for the Federation.
One thing that strikes me has odd is that most players keep shooting down the idea of a Federation Carrier that can launch Sao Paulo Hanger Support ships but have no problem with the fact that the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought can launch Bug Ships which are similar in size.
The Feds need Frigate sized Hanger Options has well has some more unique hanger options and this is coming from a KDF player.
Cryptic has done and incredible job with the varity and versatility that the KDF has in Hanger options for our Carriers and I think that there's not much more that they can add to the Fed side that would not be a copy and paste of the KDF.
I think that the Creative well has gone dry on Hanger options for the Feds and they?ll be lucky to get Fed Frigate sized hanger options at all.
Could the Maquis raider work has a Frigate sized hanger option for Federation Carriers?
I'm not sure how big the Maquis raiders were but they were in fact former Federation vessels that were retrofitted by the Maquis.
The memory alpha page states that the Maquis raider had stations for 4 officers in the cockpit and large aft sections for crew.
I think the Maquis raider could be the answer to the Feds Hanger Frigate needs.
They are about 40 - 80 metres long, not really Frigate sizes, also they are damn ugly.

I apologize for taking your thread off-topic.
Here are some good carrier designs:

The big one on the top row to the right is especially nice i think! Beside the little bitty constitution class...

I LOVE this ship and want it in-game NOW!

Its called the KELTOI class...

hell I wish we could have that ship, it would be faster.

I always did like the Ark Royal and suggested maybe 25th centurize it, but I sorta realized it looks like a over sized 23rd century chimera.
Prove that.
That would entail the Maqui either:
1) Hijack, or convince the captain and crew of one of these fictional carriers to mutiny.
or
2) Sneak aboard one of these fictional carriers, and abscond with a number of stolen Peregrines.
Neither of which explanation is supported, in canon.

Jupiter, and Typhoon, aren't going to be in the Yen store. They'll be FA ships.
