Time for the Foundry to expand

Greetings fellow authors:

It is my contention that it is time to form a panel of judges from StarbaseUGC to review Foundry missions for implementation into the game as regular mission content. Instead of endlessly grinding to explore missions for 5 scans or beam down to a planet to shoot 5 mobs we need to be truly exploring content.
A Foundry Author would need to follow certain parameters in order to have thier work published as exploratory content. It would need to be a single planet mission or system space mission. Farming misssions would be excluded. Next it would have to pass the EULA test. Lastly, it would need to pass a coherency test that the review board would give a pass or fail to. The goal is to have people who normally ignore Foundry missions play them. STO has gotten away from exploration and gone into PvP combat mode. Many of the Klingon players have complained about the lack of content. This would be an excellent way to alleviate some of that problem.
Once a project has been submitted, tested, and approved for content then it should be place in an appropiate sector or Nebula. This way the normal player stumbles across a UGC mission that he/she would have otherwise never seen. This should be seen as a reward for the authors who put in so much time and effort on thier projects. I feel quite sure that there is a way to make level specific requirements so that a Lt. does not stumble into a mission designed for a Vice Admiral. Each sector could be easily sprinkled with multiple missions so that exploration became TRUE exploration instead of a grind all the time.
Of course this concept would be in addition to the current format of the foundry missions. As stated earlier this addition to the exploration part of STO would be huge. Personally I feel it is time that the players got a true taste of what Star Trek truly was a 5 year journey to boldly explore [not PvP] strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new life forms to boldly go where no player has gone before....

IMO, the Foundry should remain separate from official game content. Authors like to tell their own stories. If we were all moving to get something published in lines with the existing story arc and game canon, with the extremely limited tools that we are given compared to the devs, then what would the company be paying its writers for? Some of the authors here are probably still trying to get their missions spotlighted, which is about as close to "approved content" as any foundry mission can get.

The only joy I actually get out of all my efforts is the ability to share my own creation with other players and seeing it all "come alive" so to speak. Appreciation for my efforts and seeing others have fun with it is what I'm looking for. For anyone's missions to become "part of the game world", it would have to go through the same review, testing, and approval process that any other dev written mission goes through, and they have enough to do right now as it is.

I understand that your idea is to weave the missions in to create more in-game content for people to enjoy. But I think that's what the Foundry is already. Players just have to make the choice to go play the missions themselves, thus creating their own string of content for their characters. It's better to do that as a choice, isn't it?

The PVP in this game is dead. The game moved toward the Egg Timer game design, where players stare multiple countdown timers. As much fun as watching the defragmenter run.

Spotlight a mission is as close to real content as a foundry mission can get.

    Let us build pvp maps!

I've had enough fighting in that dam "ghost ship"

Let us build Arena type maps which could then get thrown into the cycle with the others

aka Ground: Ghost ship, deserted facility and assimilated cruiser.

Yeah, I've always kinda wanted to make an STO PvP adaptation of the clock arena from Catching Fire, with rotating hazard zones and all.

I wanna make something similar to Breaking the Planet as a PvP arena. :D Hehehe.... can you imagine the insanity of trying to hunt down people there?

Not only that, Can you imagine remakes of the old maps of Star Trek Hazard Team and Elite Force 2?
that will a boost popularity for cryptic and futures MMO, the only pro/con is that they are working on neverwinter's foundry, while doing that, they are "adapting" the complete parts to the STO's foundry, the progress is slow and probarbly many things won't be in the foundry, we are talking about a 2010 foundry vs 2012/2013 optimized foundry.

each update is just props and walls, only seasons give us something new for the foundry.

for example, I wish to make my OWN bridge and ship interiors, have you seem the shuttlebay in this game? is big! since my ship is science one, I'll use it to create a storage and with single shuttle with capility to change shuttle/ship

my fleetmates want a custom station too, orbiting some planet...

CRYPTIC MAKE IT POSSIBLE PLEASE! T_T

Well, I tried making a mission in the NW foundry over the weekend and failed.... But I played one. It was.... very similar to the way Foundry works in STO. Except without bridge officers...

They didn't have it hooked up, other than the few missions that were in there. I assume those must have been like test missions made by devs or QA people published so that people could test the system from the player side.
