Advice on dealing with andorian escorts

kirschtkirscht Member Posts: 95 Arc User
I'm not thrilled with these new ships. The speed and fire power are overwhelming. I have been on opposite teams with one, and on the same team with one. When I'm on the same team I don't have much fun because they get there before me and blow everything up in the blink of an eye. When I'm on opposite teams, they are too fast for me to keep away from the front of them and as soon as they fire I have no chance at recovery. the great thing about this game is that you can take ships that have weeknesses compared with other ships, and equip them right and fly them right to minimize those inequalities. But I can't figure out how to do that with these andorian escorts. It almost seems that the only way to equalize it is to just fly one. But I like flying fed ships.

But nobody else is whining and complaining like I am, so it must be me. I'm open to suggestions.

If you are using an escort, try to obtain hyper impulse engines or the Omega Force Engines (Omega Reputation system). If you run your engine power at 35-40 with a single Mk XI Blue RCS Accelerator, you should be able to keep up with the andorian escorts in the speed area. If you'd like, I can probably help with the build itself, but in order to do that I would need to know the layout. (If interested, could you please fill out the Ship and Skill Tree layout at http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php and post the link here)

If you are playing federation buy the pack yourself and for start use the khyzon version.(Kumari made obsolete all other federation escorts in my opinion)

If you are kdf like me well there are not many options if we are speaking of escorts.
Jhas is the single one I can see for moment .

in pve this ships simply suck... i see a lot of fleet defiants which are outdps this andorian ship.

maybe the pilots are simply the problem.

It's probably the pilots. The ships have 5 weapon consoles up front and are generally built for tactical loadouts similar to what the Defiant carries.

    It is a fed ship.

    I have two suggestions:

1- Get a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship. This is the most superior damage dealing, speedy, turning ship available to you as a fed. It will neutralize the Andorian escorts and make you super duper happy.

2- If that's not a possibility, then lie back and think of England.

Not another "andorian ships are too powerful thread", the ships, i admit, have good DPS, but the shield power and the hull are not good. A few good shots to the ship can take the shields down. I have 4 options...

    1. Get the ship so you can do the stuff other Andorian ships can do.
    2. Live with Andorian ships being around.
    3. Get a better ship.
    4. Try to stay in rear of Andorian ship(unless they have all around cannons only), i know that's hard to do because of their maneuverability, but i don't have anything else or you.

The most i think you can do to defeat the andorian ship is too have powerful weapons to take the shields down fast and to blow it up faster.

It's hilarious watching people defend this ridiculous ship. Hearing stuff like "get the ship" is lunacy your supposed to have options not be bottle necked into the lastest money grab.

The average Andorian ship captain probably sucks, but in the right hands this thing is a unstoppable murdering machine. Glass cannon, more like Adamantium Cannon lol.

Rant aside, you know the age old term adapt or die.

Pin it and destroy it :)

Okay, bit more complex than that but you do have some options; if you're in a slow ship likely to bear the brunt of the Andorian escort's firepower then reverse shield polarity can save you, couple it with feedback pulse and you can just sit back and watch them destroy themselves, especially if you give them a helping hand with some transphasics (breen cluster is especially nasty if you can pin their ship even temporarily).

I mean, tractor beams and gravity well are pretty much specifically for dealing with pesky ships that move too fast; cloaking tractor mines in particular can be nasty if you can survive long enough to trap them or lure them into running across them. Danube runabouts are a good option for carriers.

If you can turn head-on towards them as they approach then you can use evasive manoeuvres or attack pattern omega to just zip past them, dropping mines as you go.

Granted some of this stuff's a bit more gimmicky to use, but it's good to have lots of tricks to hand, and reverse shield polarity + feedback pulse is a nasty combo to have to hand if you can slot the higher level feedback pulse ability.

As for competing with the Andorian ships on your own team; I haven't had too much trouble on that front, I'm currently running an Assault Cruiser and I find that while my overall DPS is a fair bit lower, I can keep firing on target for a lot longer. The Andorian ships meanwhile are a bit too fragile for that; I should probably help them out on that front since many of my abilities can apply to friend, but I'm mean :)

Tip #1. Relentlessly attack it with torpedoes as soon as possible and often. Ignore all other ships until it is destroyed. :D

I find the subspace jumper comes in handy with the Andorian ships. Unless I am in my fleet defiant and than its nothing that a quick evasive maneuvers won't cure with guns a blazing on target. Seriously speaking though, if you can survive the initial attack you can wipe the critters out, just know when to fire all weapons on it.

I am looking forward to the KDF getting a story line (Content) and some TLC in May as I want the B'rel Retrofit BOP with Enhanced Battle Cloak... I'd say that'll do a number on this ship as well if timed appropriate with good team work.
