So I came back to the game about 3 weeks ago after not playing since september and there are a few things that seem to have changed, and I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions.
1) Field generators no longer seem to be the sci console of choice, people seem to be using ether romulan sci consoles or regen consoles, is capacity really less impotent now, is regeneration now more usfull?
2) Can someone recommend a good weapons loadout energy type and tac boff loadout for the jem dread?
I would suggest phased polaron beams and you should have APO3 and you're choice of other powers however I would not recommend APB or using cannons on it. Along with the phased polarons you should use the Jem'Hadar set for the buff stripping power and the additional polaron dmg.
The romulan sci consoles give more bang for the buck, especially if you run a plasma build. Even if you don't, it still might be worth it. First, they have a threat modifier, either more or less. For an escort, decreased threat is always a good thing. No other consoles in the game modifies threat. They also contain a sci skill modifier, like +flow capacitors, or +graviton generator. It allows you to have a real sci console without actually using one separately. If you run a plasma build, it's like having a bonus tac console. And finally, it adds plasma proc to non-plasma weapons. So, it's not that shield capacity is not important. Rather, I think it's that you get so much more with these consoles.
