Invisible Object Text

mazikenmaziken Member Posts: 132 Arc User
I just dove back into the Foundry recently and noticed that all of my Invisible Objects now display their names for all to see. Is there anyway to get rid of their names showing up?

For instance, I have an invisible object at the same location as a Freighter. I want to be able to interact with this Invisible Object to simulate beaming passengers off the ship. It is not in the main storyline as it is a side-objective that doesn't have to be completed.

However, the ship now has the Invisible Object #XX floating over it. Any way to get rid of this?

You can give it a name like ".". It'll still be there, but less conspicuous.

Does this not affect Invisible Objects on ground maps? I noticed all of my Invisible Objects in ground maps still have their names hidden. Is this just a bug with space maps?

It's not a bug, it was an intentional change from I think the season six update to allow us to name objects that are to be interacted with. So if it isn't appearing on ground maps that might be a bug.

Okay, then how do we do optional interactions that look decent, then? Or can we no longer do that?

Kinda looks silly to have an NPC ship floating there called USS Ship and then an Invisible Object over it that is also called USS Ship.

Why isn't the ship itself interactable?

One option is to use the largest invisible object. I've found that it is usually so large that the edges where the name would appear are offscreen.

But then you would be able to interact with it from nowhere close to the ship, a good 1000 yards away.

Set it to go from invisible to visible only when the player is already near the ship.

I had one of those with a ship, and I think I called it "Nav Beacon" or "Comms range" or something that would make sense.

Use a 10ft invisible wall, ditch the invisible object..

Sometimes you want to hug this editor, sometimes you want to punch it in the face...

Why they wouldn't keep invisable objects invisible.. i don't know..
