Darn that useless Ensign!

I personally hate ensign slots at endgame they are virtually useless and i would much prefer consolidating them into Lieutenant slots on Vice Admiral ships. It just kinda sits there and takes up space. Maybe I'm not the only one... Thoughts?

    Put something on your ship to make him work perhaps? Even if it's not all the time. Otherwise you've got a layabout on your ship.

    It's basically there to stop you from becoming too OP.

    So you cannot find any BO power whatsoever to drop into an Ensign slot on your ship?

    None at all? I mean come on, every LT, every LCDR and every CDR slot has an Ensign level power. "Shirley" you can find something to drop in that Ensign slot? ;)

    Come on, I know ya can if ya just try hard enough. ;)

    My only gripe with ensign slots is the one on the Steamrunner. I was actually quite salivating over the ship for my torpedo specialist until I saw that limitation.

    ..and then the tactical Vesta and Chel Grett came along..


    Otherwise, I generally don't mind ensign slots. They're usually quite handy for putting another tactical team, emergency power, or hazard emitter in.

    It becomes a problem when I have too many ensigns.

    But really, for an escort with 3 ens slots, you find that you will not gain any survivability beyond the 2nd. Its alright to leave it blank, or slot something with a space trait.

    I typically have a torp slotted hence why I carry THY in that slot.

    Yeah but it's an escort. That slot is for your Hazard Emitter, you don't need anything else on it because of the two Lt. Engineers.

    The only ensign slots I have issues filling are the ones on cruisers. The ensign eng abilities are very limiting.

    On any ship. Ensign tac : tac team (since you want 2 of them, it's fine). Sometimes HY 1. Sci ? TSS1 or HE 1. But engi ? EPtS 1, and well, nothing else.

    All ensign slots should be universal.
