Carrier Pet - Orion Slavers Questions

edited March 2013 in Klingon Discussion
I've recently got a Orion Slavers Carrier Pet.

It states on the Item Discription both in-game and on this wiki page: http://www.stowiki.org/Hangar_-_Orion_Slavers

That I may get some EC and Commodities, but not in PvP. But Besides Ker'rat, I don't play PvP anyway.

Well, how often does this happen, and how much EC/stuff do I get? And is there any notification?

It seems that every time your fighter makes a run at a target, there's a small % of it carrying something off. I don't know the exact % but it's probably on par with an energy weapon proc, say around 1% to 2.5%

The only notification of success you get is the same notification you get when you pick up something in space. Just check your system chat log / inventory.

PS Best get two hangars worth of the higher quality slavers as soon as you can. They pay for themselves... fast (well, about 10-15 hours of combat time per hangar should see you break even on them). For this reason, I always deploy Advanced Slavers in PvE.

Sometimes I go for a day with nothing. Other times I come out of a single run of Fed Minefield with 9 contraband to show for it. It really is that random.

Wait, that's almost 4000 Dil! That is Profitable!

I'll stay with my single slot of the Basic ones for the time being, as it will take me a week or two get the Dill for one slot of the Advanced set.

If it did happen, I may have missed it as I almost always have stuff in the Exchange, and May have mistaken it for one of the EC notices from that.

Well it sound like the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition, was right: "34: War is good for business."

Advanced slavers can steal contraband for you. That's nifty.

Elite scorpions can make the mission go by faster and easier, leaving you more time to do anything else you want including playing the exchange.

    Something to consider. :)

There are DOFF missions to do just that. For Klingons, I believe it is available from a security officer on Ganalda. Not sure about Fed side.

There's a officer on the promenade of DS9 who can give you doff assignments to trade in 5 contraband for 2000 dilithium.

    For KDF:
Security officer in QnoS in great halls.
Security officer in DS9 (someone already mentioned it)
    Gandala.

    For tyrants in blue:
    Security officer in DS9
    no idea about other places.

I never seem to get very much, but every little bit helps I guess.

I run them when I do my dailies, but if I'm in STF or something more important I run frigates or S'Kuls most of the time, or elite scorps on my fed.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!

    Hey Dev's,

I'm wondering if you changed the % chance to pick up on the slavers in the last 8 mo.s or so. I bought the Advanced Orion Slavers the day you added them and still use the 'blue' slavers, but I've noticed a HUGE decrease in the amount of stuff they are picking up.

I used to have to keep my inventory window open during an stf just to discard the garbage that they picked up and averaged around 20 to 30 contraband an stf just about 4 months back maybe 6.

I looked through the release notes and don't see anything about the slavers since last August. Possible that the one's I have (altho the exact same as the newer ones labeled as very rare) are bugged?

I'm guessing they were picking up much more than intended before and got tweaked.

    Thanks,
    Xiltyn

** EDIT ** ~ Nevermind just found out about the change to slaver contraband pick up with the change in contraband doff assignment. Thanks anyways :)

What change occurred to the slavers contraband collection because of doff contraband assignments, I haven't heard?

Just wanted to note that I'm pretty sure Slavers don't get any loot in STF's .

Yes, Orion Slavers DO work in STFs.

I just started playing a carrier for the first time (Mirror Vo'Quv) and I'm not sure why I havent played one ages ago as its now my fave ship in the game (more then my oddy pack)! The Mirror Vo'Quv is cheap (usually 350K on the exchange), HUGE hull (42K), HUGE shields (10K per side with Kling honor guard shields). Load'em up with shield-ripping tetryons and let your pets do the 'talking' lol.

I got 2 purple BoPreys and 2 Purple Orion Slavers - depends if I want dmg or goodies. I LOVE that the ship changes the name of my BoP pets to "Mirror" B'rels. Peeps freak out and keep asking me where to buy mirror pets. Seems to be random voodoo and wizardry on whether I get contraband with my Slavers, but one time I did 3 STFs and got 20 of them! Its kind of pathetic on the amount of EC and commodities tho - DEVs - u TOTALLY need to add a couple of zeros to the yeild. I fight a fleet of ships with slaver pets single handed for what . . . 300EC? Really? Considering all of the vocal KDF'ers that want more love to the faction, this seems like a small and easy thing to do.

I havent looked into it yet, but are there fleet Slaver pets to buy? If so, I wonder how they would be better?

Purple? The exist? What's the diff between them and the advanced slavers?

You need to be in a fleet with a tier 5 science to buy them.

The purple ones can get you contraband, blue ones . . . no such luck. :(

I think you should have another look at your Slavers. I have the Blue as well as the Purple.

Blue Quality - Orion Slavers (purchased for EC)
    -Disruptor Beam Array
    -Photon Mine Launcher
    -Capture Crew
    -Steals Energy Credits or Commodities

Purple Quality - Advanced Orion Slavers (from the D-Store)
    -Disruptor Beam Array
    -Quantum Mine Launcher
    -Capture Crew
-Steals Energy Credits, Commodities or Contraband

There was a patch a while back that increased the quality of hanger pets. Orion Slavers USED to be green and Advanced Orion Slavers USED to be blue - but this was changed. Perhaps this where the confusion is?

It's because you have the old blues. They changed the color scheme a while back. Advanced are now purple (instead of blue) and normal are now blue (instead of green).

they need to allow us to change the blue (dil) purchased advanced to the purple versions because you KNOW they messed the code of the old ones.

My dil-store slavers have not stolen a thing for a long time and now I think I know why.
