Andorian Survivability, Sci vs Eng

This will really determine which ship I buy. With my planned layout it comes down to one console, mabye two if the special consoles are bad.

Planned consoles:
Tac: all phaser
Sci: Field Generator / Emitter Array
Eng: Neutronium Alloy x2

Boff layout will be the same whichever ship I get, I will just use the univ for the other type.

Esn Eng: EPS 1
LT Eng: EPS 1 / RSP 1
LT Sci: Hazzard Emitters 1 / (SciT/TSS 2)

The ship special console will go wherever I have the most consoles if I use it.
So would it be better to fit another shield console or hull console if I want to survive longer?

    There isn't nearly enough info here to tell.

    We don't know your shield and/or sets you have on
    Boff abilities for tac
    captain type.

    Escorts shield tank, the question is regen or capacity.

    I think RSP is a hugely overrated ability thanks to it's stupidly long cooldown making it just an "oh ****" button as opposed to anything particularly useful

    I also don't think it matters which you pick. I'll be using

    1ens eng = EPTS1
    1lieu eng = EPTS1 + ET2
    1lieu sci = PH1, HE2

    That fits neatly into both boff options, and should be plenty of survivability for a tac.

    Chaning EPTS1 for shields, HE2 for hull and clearing plasma DoT, and ETeam for when you get in trouble and need to dart out of combat and heal.

    What I can tell you is that a third neutronium won't help you. And I'd say even a type specific console will be pretty much useless due to diminishing returns.

    Because of that, and the Embassy sci consoles, I'd personally go for the sci version, if you want to pick one.

    Be aware - the Kumari seems to have a built in nerf to all healing abilities.

    All HP and Shield healing skills I was using up until now work at 1/3 of their original strength. HE2 on my previous escort healed about ~12 HP over 15 sec, yet on Kumari the same HE2 with the same skills heals only ~4k over 15 sec. The same goes for EPtS. Other person I know who also bought the ship reports the same issue.

    lol, this is rather bad.

    I guess you're not looking at different Aux power boosed abilities, right?

    No. At 125 Aux Power HE2 gives me little over 5k HP over 15 seconds. On my Mobius Destroyer the same HE2 heals 15k HP over 15 sec.

    Lol Cryptic. Not sure if bug or a feature. If the latter then I want a refund, cause it doesn't say anything about nerfed healing in the ship description.

    I'm sure this will get fixed, but it will take some time, rage on on the forums and another apology by dastahl on "lack of quality QA".

    EDIT: I wonder if such limits to healing abilities could be beneficial. Like there is a shield mod, every ship had a healing mod.

    Do an experiment to see if it changes when you change power levels. Perhaps the bug is with bonuses based on power.

    Okay, I bought the Kumari and I'm displeased with the bugs.

    However I've got to say it's squishyness is pretty much what I envisioned escorts should be. If all escorts were as squishy as this, people may actually have a real reason to fly cruisers.

    I've seen someone wondering whether this is part of a future code that slipped through (good job, QA :P ). Then something of the sort could be applied to all ships and dedicated healers (sci ships and cruisers) could become very much needed.

    Might be a hidden nerf as well, remember when they released the Vesta with nearly tripled hanger timers. I'm personally waiting for all the Andorian rage post before I make my purchase this time.

    Currently running full Mk. 12 MACO. Also have Ageis and Borg sets.

    Tac boffs:
    Com: TT1 / CRF 1 / APD2 / APO 3
    Lt Com: TT1 / CRF 1 / BO3



    Anyone else having problems with heals? That seems really bad.

    My only real gripe so far, is that the shields, even with 2 field gens, are rather insignificant, though 40k+ hull is good enough.

    Oh, that would be too good. And it would not happen. Unless DEV got bored with escorts, want play Kirks in cruisers and decided that they need to make escorts glass cannons they should be, so their ships remain the best ones.

    But yeah, it would be great if this hit all escorts.

    We are investigating the reports of low healing values. This is definitely not an intended feature of the ships.

    More info when available.


    Seem like it will get fixed....sometime.

    No doubt soon as it directly affects sales....

    Unlike the KDF Marauding BOFF reward, fixing that won't make them any money. We were told they have their top people on it Jan 16th 2012. :cool:
